The Citgo gas station at 5471 Westbard Avenue was fenced off last night. An environmental team appeared to be in the process of removing or replacing the underground gasoline tank. The second Westbard Citgo at 5335 Westbard remained open for business.
Across the street, more signage has been posted along the street to emphasize that the Giant and other tenants in the Westwood Shopping Center remain open for business. Demolition of two storefronts, and construction of a new Giant store building, has closed off the entrance to the shopping center across from Bowlero.

The tank and pumps are now completely gone. I expect that the building will be demolished in due course -- I believe that whole area is set for redevelopment. They are currently removing the windows in the vacant assisted living facility down at the corner, so it will also be demolished soon.
