Bethesda construction update: The Rae at Westlake apartments (Photos)

Here's a look at the latest progress on The Rae at Westlake, the Foulger-Pratt development on the former site of Ourisman Ford at 10401 Motor City Drive in Bethesda. If you like shopping and great restaurants, the property is in a prime spot right across from Montgomery Mall, Home Depot and The Cheesecake Factory. The stack-and-pack-style development will house 343 apartments, a fitness center, a coworking lounge, a pool, a pet spa, a club room and an interior courtyard that will sport an outdoor fireplace, hammocks and barbecue grills. Delivery remains on-track for Q3 2023.

I hope they have a good sprinkler system.

Yeah why are they using wood? Isn't it usually poured concrete for structures of that size?

No. The entire point of it being such a short building is to avoid the expense of concrete or steel construction throughout.

What is the code for Bethesda for wood structures like this? Fires can spread really fast in
structure like this.
