Interior fit-out of a new CVS Pharmacy at 7235 Wisconsin Avenue has resumed after an unexplained delay. The store will be in a building that was previously home to PNC Bank, and Riggs Bank before that. This location will be directly across the street from The Elm apartments, and in the future, the Hampden House and two more new apartment towers on the block of Wisconsin between Hampden Lane and Montgomery Lane.

I’m glad they decided to keep the tall ceilings and the old chandeliers in this classic old building. I also hope they open up at least some of the windows facing Wisconsin, but it seems that drugstores hate clear storefronts, with views in and out of their stores. It’s an odd trend as classic drugstores were quite open and inviting. I’m sure that a big part of it is the high cost of rent, and the need to disparate as much product on fixtures. It will be interesting to see how much product they display in this tiny urban format drugstore.
I miss the classic old drug stores that had soda fountain bars.
This location is more or less midway between the existing CVS stores at 7809 Wisconsin, and at the corner of Arlington and Bradley. Does CVS plan to leave either or both of these existing stores? I'd think the 7809 Wisconsin Ave site is ripe for re-development.
Hopefully CVS stops getting robbed in broad daylight. A buddy of mine was at the 7809 location and saw a guy walk in with a back pack, load it up with laundry detergent and walk right out. He asked the manager about what can be done and the manager said that's up to the police. Joe Biden's America. Stupid MoCo voters put Elrich back in office for four more long years.
