BETHESDA CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: THE LAUREN ULTRA-LUXURY CONDOS (PHOTOS)

Even a $10.5 million penthouse has to start somewhere. At the future ultra-luxury condominium development known as The Lauren, that means excavating and building the underground parking garage first. Here are scenes from the latest progress at the site (at Hampden Lane and Woodmont Avenue), formerly home to The Hampden affordable apartments:

Is there any retail in the building?

Ah. The juxtaposition of mass vs. negative space. In real art...sometimes that which is missing is what completes the picture.

Your use of photography in the application of this principle makes the loudest statement in Frame 4, with the sunlight and empty space "vanishing" a key part of the word "expansive".

Some moments, according to American Express, are priceless.
I'm about to break out a John Denver song.

Flynn, not that I recall.

They've closed off a block of Woodmont Ave. and erected a crane today.

Do they have to have a permit and pay a fee for street closures?

I’d like to build an apartment block for smart, considerate, engaged people who want to be surrounded by similar folk.

Thats pike and rose dude ...

Dang, that would have been a nice way to try to add a small bit more connection between the row and the triangle. That woodmont walk is a lonely one. How cool would it be if the Christopher dug out their woodmont side and put retail in along that sidewalk.

What is pike and rose? That's definitely the lauren in the pics.

@ Flynn 11:51 - I think that 10:06 was replying to 9:32.

Pike & Rose is the development at the former Mid-Pike Plaza (west side of Rockville Pike between Old Georgetown Road and Montrose Road), which Dyer has been ignoring for the past six weeks.

Oh gotcha. But there are a lot of Pile and Rose posts last time I checked?

@ Flynn 3:41 PM -

Yes, it was wall-to-wall coverage of Pike & Rose until the election. After that, total silence.

Enquiring Bethesdans demand answers!

4:05 PM: Wrong. I had a report on the holiday lights at Pike and Rose on November 10, 6 days after the election. Any lack of coverage of Pike and Rose is the fault of Pike and Rose for not sending me press releases and not inviting me to events. I can't control that, and frankly have no idea what their reasoning is as to how shutting out my readers boosts business in a competitive market.

Pretty sure Crave didn't invite you to check out their new sign asshole...

Have you asked then directly to include you in their press releases and they denied your request? Or you are just waiting for them to ask you on their own accord?

Robert, as I've said before, they know I exist. Despite that, I did email Vanessa Rodriguez, head of marketing at Federal Realty a couple of months ago. I mentioned that I was not getting the press releases for Pike & Rose, and politely asked if she could add me to the list. She never responded, and I continue to receive no media announcements. The only business that reached out was Del Frisco's Grille, which used its own PR company and has a very smart person who does her homework and knows the importance of new media in 2014.
