Firefighters responded to a report of smoke at the Kenwood Place condominiums on Westbard Circle in Bethesda around 8:30 this morning.
Scanner reports suggested fire personnel experienced communication difficulties while in the building, but the cause was not clear.
With no fire evident, firefighters searched the complex for the source of smoke.
One identified an "overloaded oil boiler" as the potential culprit.
