Like its neighbor PassionFish, Silver is also planning on a September opening. Silver will be open for most of the day, true to its upscale diner roots. Also like PassionFish, the interior has come a long way here, too. What would a diner be without booths? And here they are. Light fixtures and wall tile are also in place.

This may succeed but I'm skeptical. Is this just Silver Diner with a nicer looking outfit? Silver Diner is awful. Why in the world didn't they choose a different name? Folks aren't dumb around here and this sounds too similar to the diner that people know. It's open most of the time and has a bar
? We'll see. Again, this is very simple. If the food is exceptional, the decor is comfortable and the service is good, it'll do well. If it looks and smells like the diner, it won't. I'm looking more forward to Community being opened in Woodmont Triangle from the BGR folks. Now that looks like a winner and a real threat to Tastee. This, on the other hand, doesn't.
It looks to be the same terrible food menu at silver diner.
Average Tastee check is like $5. What's the Community menu prices like? Not sure it's a real competitor.
Well when Silver fails we will probably get another Mediterranean small plates outfit. Like banks you can't have enough.
Silver Diner is OK. Nothing exceptional, but it gets the job done. It's about time there was a place to get a decent milkshake in Bethesda.
Tastee Diner is no $5.00 check not any more. Community will be more but probably better. Trust me, I'm no Tastee hater. Been going there since I was a child and now take my own children there. I don't want it to go anywhere. I'm just saying Community will give Tastee some competition but also will be about a 1000 x better than Silver. Why do I need a full bar at Silver? It's not as if this is Vegas and folks are drinking at all hours of the day and night. Again, they should have not named it Silver as it's too close to their diner name.
I am not excited to go there. Google GBD in DC and see what a cool place that serves breakfast and more looks like.
Silver + PassionFish = Silverfish.
Ewww.
I like Silver Diner. My entire family likes Silver Diner. I am looking forward to Silver. I can pretty much guarantee it will do well.
So what if it isn't hip and cool? So what if the late night menu and the bar prove to be only minor draws. If you have ever tried to eat at the Silver Diner on Rockville Pike; you would know that it is mobbed at all times of day.
Its a boring old American Diner style restaurant. A different schtick; but at its core Ruby Tuesday, TGI Friday; or Olive Garden. It will be a huge success with families with small children. That's a big demographic in Bethesda. I would think that Rio Grande Cafe is the equivalent demographic in that area. Maybe the American Tap room; but your average Silver Diner is better than the American Tap room.
I look forward to going every other month or so and I only hope it doesn't occur to the family to start asking for Take Out from Silver for dinner every Friday night.
Why am I so GOD DAMN amazing?

If Community has not opened yet, how do you know it will be better than Silver?
I said probably will be better.
