Downtown Bethesda demolition spilling out onto public sidewalk (Photos)

The demolition at 7900 Wisconsin Avenue is spilling off the property into the public right-of-way along Woodmont Avenue. Pedestrians walking along the north side of Woodmont yesterday encountered a coating of dirt that has flowed from the demolition site.

Construction sites are required to contain debris and runoff within their property under Montgomery County code. Aside from just being a unsightly mess, this is hazardous for elderly or disabled people trying to navigate the sidewalk.

6:15: I realize there is a growing culture of lawlessness in the County Council, government, Planning Board, and MCPS, but rules are rules, and they have to be followed.

You wouldn't be complaining if this were in Fredericksburg.

The Best of Tampon Bob, August 9:

"You can ignore the 'huge' vacancy rate in Virginia because they just have way more office space, which drives down rents and demand."

"Therefore office vacancies in Northern VA are artificially inflated, because it simply has so much more office space to fill."

Did you report it to 311?

What a mess. Residents in the Woodmont Triangle are hoping JBG are good neighbors during construction and keep things clean.

If you're a stickler then report it to 311. Why bother telling us about it instead of 311? No one here cares.

I've seen hundreds of demolitions, and not one of them was "pretty."

Should the demo crew wash and vacuum the sidewalk?

Keeping a clean & safe site should be a best practice. Workers should clean up public space at the end of the day.
Be good neighbors!

It's not taxpayers...the developer needs to keep a clean site.

Dyer, please report this to 311 it's a clear violation.

Yes, the sidewalk and street needs to be kept clear of both runoff and debris. We had work done at my house, and the contractor left dirt and mud all over the sidewalk and the street. MC DPS fined me $2,000 ($1,000 per violation). I passed it on to the contractor, but that also got them to realize they need to keep the public areas clean.

I just filed the complaint with MCDPS via 311 website. It's Service Request number 200057610 if anyone wants to track it.

Boys, if you keep doing Robbie's job for him, he's never going to learn to do it himself.

BB has four breaking crime reports in the past two days, plus one story of voter fraud; Robert Dyer is reduced to reporting on muddy sidewalys.
