New Bethesda Trader Joe's update (Photos)

The permanent sign has been installed above the entrance at the new Trader Joe's grocery store at 7900 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda. It may seem a bit premature, as the anchor retail tenant of the 8001 Woodmont development is not quite ready to open yet. There are a number of finishing touches still required on the interior, not to mention that there is no merchandise on display so far. The existing Trader Joe's at 6831 Wisconsin remains open for business at this time.

Trader Joe's has a sign at the entrance of the existing store stating that they are there to stay and celebrating 20 years at the location.

@4:56 PM: That's great news! So glad the existing store is staying open. It would have been a shame if it closed and the new location would have been severely overcrowded. Downtown Bethesda is big enough to support two store locations, especially with the additional residential development that's planned.

I'd be very surprised if Trader Joe's maintains two locations in Bethesda once the new one is operational.
