BRADLEY PARTY AND VARIETY WINS BEST OF BETHESDA AWARD

Bradley Party & Variety has received the 2014 Best of Bethesda award in the Party Store category from the Bethesda Award Program. The awards are given to Bethesda small businesses "that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community," the award organization said in a press release. "These exceptional companies help make the Bethesda area a great place to live, work and play."

Among the other 2014 winners of the Best of Bethesda award is business software and consulting firm BroadPoint. The winners are determined by information the Bethesda Award Program organization gathers internally, and from third party data.

"We appreciate our customers and the people in the community who voted," Bradley Party & Variety's Brian Dimock said yesterday. The store is located at 6922 Arlington Road, in the Bradley Shopping Center next to Strosniders.

Do the award givers have any perspective from the community? I don't care for either but wasn't it just recently that Bradley/Strosnider was accused of pushing out Bruce Variety?

Yes this is shocking. I'm sure it's a fine store but I'll never set foot in it after what went down with Bruce Variety.

Correct, the Strosnider family owns that. The owner of Bruce Variety used to be married to one of the Strosniders. There was some unpleasant family politics involved.

That said, the old Bruce Variety was seriously overdue for an update. Both the Bradley Party and Variety and the new Bruce's location look much nicer.

Yeah I agree they both look better. But certainly not glowing with a "positive image" for their award.

Congrats bradley you all deserve it! Rverytimr I go in the staff is so helpful and pleasant. They even let me in 5 minutes after closing last night, we are lucky to have a store like this. People can say and accuse all they want but I tend to have a hard time believing all of it when they seem to have a great staff and they make the extra effort to let people in after close. Thanks bradley party and variety!

What is the "Bethesda Award Program" anyway. Their decision is based on information gathered internally?

people go to bethesda magazines website and vote on their favorite local bethesda stores.

Anyone get their copy of The Gazette this week? It had a "Best of Montgomery" section, but 90% of the best businesses, restaurants in the country are apparently in the Gaithersburg area (according to their lists).

Out of dozens of businesses, restaurants, etc. a couple were in Bethesda.

At least it wasn't written from a tourists point of view, like Washingtonian Magazine's best of bethesda.
