Fossil closes at Westfield Montgomery Mall (Photos)

Fossil closed permanently Saturday night at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The company suffered lackluster national sales during the holiday season, and had previously announced its plan to reduce its physical retail presence during 2015.

The company's future earning potential is also threatened by the Apple Watch, some experts say.

"The company's future earning potential is also threatened by the Apple Watch, some experts say."

How odd that you didn't bother to include a picture of any of Fossil's core merchandise, for context, just a lazy, random shot of some clothing.

6:56: The store is closed! That's the only interior shot that was accessible at this point. Use common sense before trolling.

How come Dyer never goes to stores when they're actually open?

7:12: You've obviously missed a ton of posts, everything from Macy's to Bonobos to Barnes and Noble to the As Seen on TV store, and - while you were asleep last Monday - Bruce Variety.

Dyer covers the Bethesda retail beat quite well. He has all of the big openings and closings first. And regularly covers news at places like the Apple Store. FYI: the Apple Store is open :)

Sad to see them go. Lots of closings at Montgomery mall lately it seems.

@ 7:55 PM - you mean the article about Bruce that showed a 7-month-old shot of the exterior?

Robert Dyer said...

12:52: No, the article that broke the story about Bruce Variety closing. "Don't go to bed before the King," chump.

to make sure he never gets scooped Robert simply refuses to cover things that he got scooped on good strategy

5:42 AM get a life man. All of you guys are covering a tiny suburb of Washington, DC.
No reader cares about this inside baseball discussion about scoops.
If you want to be an editor on Robert's site, I guess you should submit him a resume.
He's not gonna post an article about how to re-heat take out pizza though.

Sometimes I wonder why you don't limit comments to authenticated users. Is it worth the 90% troll rate to get to the actual 10% of useful comment interaction?

6:50 AM It's basically one or two negative guys generating all of the strange comments. When that one guy is busy, you notice the weird comments are absent.

He repeats the same things over and over again (see 7:08 AM for example).

8:25 am there definitely seem to be quite a few voices, both negative and positive. Then there are the actual constructive comments separately. :)

But I agree with Andrew, might as well turn on authentication.

8:49 AM It's the same negative guy. He says the same thing over and over again.
I wish he'd at least mix it up a bit. Maybe develop new insults?

Other than him, I only see positive comments. Everyone in Bethesda reads Dyer. I've never heard a negative word about Dyer in the real world.

LOL

10:44 AM Everyone is singing Dyer's praises...other than the sour guy that posts anonymously on here. Wish anonymous would lighten up or get help.

There are some weird ones that's for sure.

I mean, I inmensely dislike Dyer, but his content is usually good on his site. Great early scoops. The opinion pieces are purely that, and folks don't have to agree.

Anonymous said...

"I inmensely dislike Dyer". Why would you immensely dislike a local journalist?
Notice the guy who "immensely" dislikes Dyer operates under anonymous.

Anonymous said...

Lol. Most of us here are anonymous.

I will happily rephrase. I immensely dislike Dyer's opinions and public personality as displayed in his comments. My right. Just as his opinions are his right. :)

Love his blog posts! What great insight into what's going on in Bethesda.

1:18 PM Disagreeing with someone's opinions is fine. I disagree with opinions, but I don't "immensely dislike" someone who has a different opinion. Major difference.

Life is too short really to have immense dislike for people I don't know or have never met.

@ 1:01 PM - Couldn't you wait more than four minutes? LOL

Anonymous said...

Anonymous guy needs help if he has this much hate for a guy he's never met and doesn't know.

Anonymous said...

Agreed. Why does Dyer's anonymous shill hate the Skeptics so much?

Anonymous said...

607, there isn't a politician or celebrity or other you dislike even though you've never met them?
