Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 opened to big box office results over the weekend, and ArcLight Cinemas at Westfield Montgomery Mall has some special items to add to the movie-going experience. Two special Guardians of the Galaxy-themed cocktails are available at the bar in the lobby: Angry Little Tree, with Stoli Blueberry, black raspberry liqueur, lemon juice and Sprite is inspired by the pint-sized Groot. Or enjoy the movie with a Relax Drax cocktail, featuring Cruzan aged rum, Mt. Gay rum, Campari, and lime and grapefruit juices.
I had an Angry Little Tree, which tasted most strongly of raspberry. You can take your cocktail with you into the movie, as well.
In the lobby gift shop area, there is a decent amount of Guardians merchandise, including mugs, scented pencils, and a lunchbox. If you liked the soundtrack, you can take one home on CD because they have that also.
The only disappointing thing was that the massive floor-to-ceiling poster wall in the lobby was featuring Alien instead of Guardians, which would have been a more colorful, Instagram-ready franchise.

I saw this at iPic and could not recommend it more!
ArcLight is the best theater in Bethesda at the moment.
We will see this stuff in an episode of "Hoarders" a couple of years from now.
I like both, but iPic has an older crowd so I don't have to deal with as many kids. Plus walking around outside afterwards is nice.
So how much did that glass of water, alcohol, high-fructose corn syrup and artificial flavorings set you back?
Is this an ad?
Is Dyer holding a drink, or blowing into a Breathalyzer?
I like iPic as well, although the mall fast food options are better for my fat butt haha.
Da fuq is a "scented pencil"?
Awesome movie! I saw it at iPic and had a blast. Will go see it again!
This ignores the big Bethesda news, which was that Guardians of the Galaxy was playing at the Bethesda Row Landmark. Did Landmark decide that they were going to tap the local multiplex market while Regal was out of town? Stay tuned, but maybe not to this blog.
Did 10:59 just beat Dyer to news?
I like both, but iPic i find to be nicer.
10:59: You can't see 3-D versions of movies at Bethesda Row, but no, I've noticed that with Beauty and the Beast months ago that they are showing mainstream movies this year. Only these 2 so far, however.
I prefer the non 3D versions anyway. Oh man why didn't you tell us when you first noticed? I would totally have gone to see Beauty and the Beast at Bethesda Row instead of ArcLight.
As always the best news is in the comments!!
1:42 PM Try Google, my friend. It tells you the showtimes near you.
Stock quotes and sports scores too!
Ha. 10:59 most certainly beat Dyer to the news...although I wouldn't much think most of what's in here as the news. More reviews of food and opinion pieces.
AWWW HELLLLL #HideYoKidz!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad to see Robert responded in a civil manner to 10:59.

I concur!
3:37am is the type of weak comment unpaid interns make!
Don't be so cheap next time! Millions in revenue and you can't pay your interns?!
1:42: I did tell you - remember my report about going to see the movie at Bethesda Row Cinema, and then stopping by Le Crueset for the limited edition cookware?
Worst attempt at Pidgin English, ever.
Little Robert is starting to get the hint. Be nice and refrain from insults or we will constantly remind him of his tail whipping by Hans in his last election.
Oh, I must have missed it, 5:42. I like Bethesda Row cause you walk outside afterwards and feel like part of a town. ArcLight walking into a mall is just bleh. iPic at least has the neighborhood feel when you walk out. Much better theater environment at iPic.
6:44: Helpless Hans should be nice and refrain from insults, or we will constantly remind him of his campaign checks from Mitt Romney's Bain Capital and Danaher Corporation, two pioneers in outsourcing. Or that he voted to create a tax shelter that allows his sugar daddy Mitch Rales to protect $360 million from federal taxation, which is now being investigated by Congress.
As far as Hans winning in the last election, we know the cemetery precincts came in strong for Riemer, and that has now been verified by the Judicial Watch report that shows more voter names on the rolls than there are actual eligible voters in MoCo!
7:34: Both true - at least for earlier screenings. Late nights are deserted around both theaters, thanks to Hans Riemer's failed nighttime economy initiative. ArcLight has the same problem though, because the mall closes everything around it.
IPic and Bethesda Row definitely have more going on late night than Montgomery Mall. The mall closing and retailers closing at iPic and Bethesda Row are the same thing.
Wasn't the nighttime economy initiative a set of recommendations? Has the county and retailers taken up the recommendations?
You've never received campaign funds?
How do we know the cemetery districts benefited Hans only and not you as well? Maybe you're involved with the cemetery district too?
1:27: If I had been helped by illegal votes, I would have won, Sherlock.
1:25: No, it was broadly claimed by Hans Riemer in a media blitz that he was going revolutionize and improve nightlife. Central was ending the liquor monopoly, which he instead ultimately embraced and fought to preserve. The recommendations adopted failed, and 10 bars closed in Bethesda, as well as reduced hours at other "nighttime" businesses. Also, food trucks that used to work downtown Bethesda at night vanished, too, along with 96% of all food trucks.
Your capacity to deny your own failure is amazing, Dyer.
If Hans Riemer had never been born, whom would you blame for your failure?
Have you ever considered that your lack of a meaningful resume just might be a problem with the voters of Montgomery County?
"Riemer voted to create a tax shelter that allows his sugar daddy Mitch Rales to protect $360 million from federal taxation"
Argle Bargle. The County Council has no control over federal taxation, and Riemer has never been in Congress.
Riemer, the MoCo council, Bethesda Magazine and THE troll. Everything goes back to one of those.
It's his schtick.
Wait so how many votes did you lose by and how many cemetery votes were there? And they all voted for him instead of you? How do you know this? Wow you should share your evidence with whichever sanctioning body can do something about this!!!!
The troll is associated with the Magazine and Riemer is a Councilmember.
The council deserves scrutiny..it's called local journalism.
5:05 AM, I partially agree with you, but what Robert does is not 'journalism'. Why is it that he is constantly provided false facts or he makes an argument about something he does not understand. Robert is a great source for bringing to attention what is happening, but not a reliable source that can be taken at face value.
Bethesda Magazine regularly plagiarises Dyer and presents false facts in their own articles. I can't take them at face value.
And they don't pay their interns who produce all those poorly written stories.
I heard their publisher can't go near schools. Something is going on.
Hi Robert, please explain again how expensive attorney's are? Can you also explain how expense reimbursements work? Or how a tax credit works?
6:07AM is drinking the kool-aid.
The other place does not plagiarize.
Dyer is the one with the false facts.
Interns aren't always paid - check out the WaPo. Poorly written is your opinion.
Stop beating around the bush and say what you're hinting at about something going on. It sounds interesting-what is it? Details! Spill!
You shouldn't need to judge your site by referencing other's sites. Your site should speak for itself. You shouldn't need to tell people you are a superior site, you should prove it with your reporting. Anything else is whining and shows envy.
6:52 AM It's the anonymous troll that mentions other sites. No one else cares.
Of course, if the Magazine writers want to continue to plagiarize and defame Dyer, then I expect he'll respond.
MoCo residents are turning the page and Dyer is filling the void left by the local legacy print media.
Great to see coverage is the news deserts of Rockville and East County now across Dyer's network of local sites. He has the leading site in both areas now.
No, it's Dyer who promulgates mentioning other sites. Just look through the site and the comments. It's right there obvious for all to see.
It's all schtick to get views. The entertainment value is what's popular about Dyer's site. Not the articles. And he's successful at amusing us all.
I concur
7:36 AM Dyer doesn't talk about other sites in his reports.
You continue to bring them up in the comments. Presumably trying to drive traffic to the old, legacy local sites.
I find the so called articles written by unpaid interns on the Magazine site to be very entertaining and poorly written. (Is it legal to not pay these folks?)
7:57AM - Honey, it's silly to try and say one thing when the proof shows something quite different.
I don't use the names of the other sites in my comments, but you have no problem naming them. Why do you do that?
As far as not paying interns, it depends on the circumstances.
Can you verify they are not being paid?
Can you verify the hours they work?
Is there a contract with the educational institution?
Give Maggie at MD Dept of Labor, Licensing a call and she can help you with your complaint:
410-767-2357 - Worker classification dept
Good luck, 7:36AM
8:13 AM How much of their staff isn't paid?
Any how often do those angry, unpaid staffers post anonymously here?
"If I had been helped by illegal votes, I would have won, Sherlock"
Wow. Riemer had 76% more votes than Dyer, yet Dyer claims he "would have won" if not for unsubstantiated "illegal votes." I doubt that argument would hold water even in Venezuela or Uganda.
2014 General Election, Montgomery County Council, At-Large
Democrat Hans Riemer 143,048 15
Republican Shelly Skolnick 81,698
Republican Robert Dyer 80,991
10:09 AM Riemer engaged in a fake news campaign (such as through a local blog) during that election. Any idea on the impact of that on results?
12:05 PM Presumably Joe was complaining about not being paid on Glassdoor? And was "neutral" about the future of Bethesda Magazine?
Anyone with basic Google knowledge can look up his complaints as well. Doesn't sound too satisfied. Get out, Joe. They're not paying you.
They had unpaid interns writing their election coverage also.
Looks like Shelley Skolnick (R) also got about 700 votes from dead Mexicans.
Mic dropped. Well said.
Truth. I come here for a giggle when I read about people giving it to Dyer. Not the articles or "reporting."
Dyer didn't even come in second place? He wasn't first loser. He was the big loser.
How come Dyer doesn't hate Skolnick with the same passion that he hates Riemer?
I come here for Dyer's local journalism. I'm not alone from other comments I've seen.
Dyer sets the agenda every morning for what folks will be discussing around Bethesda that day.
The situation over at the small and slightly-failing magazine is so bad, the reporters are posting their resumes into my comments section in hopes of finding a new job. #winning
3:59: You dumbass, the County Council voted all necessary approvals for the Glenstone "museum," which is used as a tax shelter to hide $363 million from federal taxes, and counting. Your reading skills are quite poor. Riemer voted to create the tax shelter, in exchange for $4000+ in campaign contributions from Rales.
6:07: Yeah, and that all-white reporting staff, and never featuring anyone of color on their front covers, are coming through in their poor and biased coverage of the Westbard cemetery story. Not a good position from which to cover majority minority Montgomery County.
Would you consider your comments about BM defamation? You always claim defamation and threaten to sue when you are criticized.
Dyer, where were you "administrative assistant" and how long ago was that?
