Pet Parents opening on Fairmont Avenue in Bethesda

The Bainbridge Bethesda luxury apartment tower has filled another of its ground floor retail spaces. Coming soon will be Pet Parents, next to Experimac, at 4907 Fairmont Avenue. This won't solve the lack-of-street-activation problem around the Bainbridge after business hours, but should be appreciated by pet owners in the nearby apartments.

As far as I can tell, Experimac has been closed for months. Please don't blame the government for this somehow Dyer.

Well, the County has lost over 2000 retail jobs since 2000, according to the Maryland Association of Retailers. So the County Council should be held accountable for our moribund private sector economy.

The retail sector is in free-fall nationwide, Dyer. Nothing to do with Helpful Hans and the MoCos, and everything to do with Amazon.

Worst report ever. Is it a pet supply store, daycare center, veterinary clinic? All of the above? None of the above?

Come on Dyer, I'm starting to agree with the other commenters on whether this is a viable news source or a hobby blog.

It's a nursing home where pets put their aging owners.

Suggest rewriting this to:

"This won't address the poor street activation around the Bainbridge after business hours, but pet owners in the nearby apartments should appreciate this."

How many vacant retail spaces are still waiting to be filled at the Bainbridge?

7:37: Is Amazon also the reason that every jurisdiction around Montgomery County - even Culpeper County! - had a net gain in jobs since 2000, while Montgomery County suffered a net LOSS during the same period?

Exurbs such as Culpeper County, with lots of greenfield development, would be expected to have a net gain in retail locations. It's not really a surprise and it's not an indicator that mostly-developed counties such as Montgomery are failing.

How many jobs has Dyer had since 2000?

Rather than whining like a spoiled brat, how would you propose to fix the issue Robert? You sure are quick to complain and criticize, but I rarely read realistic or productive proposals from you for these "ills"

From "The Nine Hallmarks of Internet Trolls":

- "Gish Galloping" or creating straw men instead of responding to the points a target makes

Insisting they know what a target really means instead of taking responses at face value

Posing an endless series of questions to create more grist for trolling

A seeming inability to acknowledge that other people may have different, valid opinions

Attempts to score points with a perceived audience rather than engage in direct dialogue

Taking a target’s statements out of context by twisting single words and short phrases

Failing to cite sources or citing sources that don’t back up claims

Focusing on criticism and complaints to the exclusion of solutions

Quickly devolving into ad hominem arguments

Dyer, you're escalating this.
Are you sure that's the route you want to take?

I really am who I say I am.

Retail jobs are low-paying, and even Dyer has ridiculed them - "jeans-folding", etc.

3:14 PM It's good news for the many pet owners in the Bainbridge and surrounding buildings. Quite a few dogs reside in the Bainbridge!

11:56: Whoa, whoa - we're talking about all jobs, not just retail jobs. The large jurisdictions, and the small ones, around us all had a net gain in jobs. Montgomery County had a net LOSS. That most certainly is an indicator that Montgomery is failing.

7:30PM: No, we were talking about retail jobs until your changed it to all jobs to fit your talking point.

Hopefully by the time the next door building gets developed with the joint walkway some more restaurants or bars might come into that alley.
