Bethesda construction update: The Rugby (Photos)

The Donohoe Companies' mixed-use project, The Rugby, is reaching street level in many spots. But you can still see quite a bit down into the future parking garage. The Rugby will share a plaza with sister building Gallery Bethesda, located at 4800 Auburn Avenue.

Just a short walk to the Purple Line, but sadly not to Politics and Prose.

Will the Rugby have a separate garage entry and loading dock? I heard that's the case. If so, what a shame. More block killing ugly street frontage. Why wouldn't they plan this together to share? At least the parking garage entry. The way it's setup now kills that entire side of the building.

10:20 AM - I wish that Dyer would branch out into Bobcats.

I could swear that the Bobcat in the first photo is smiling at me!

8:52: Considering we saw there's no garage down there when they excavated, it's almost certain there'll be a separate garage entrance for this. They will at least need some winning retail and dining on the plaza side of the building to make that public space work.

What is winning retail in a diverse area such as Bethesda where plenty of people have different tastes?

That bobcar is cute, but brick printers are to sigh over.
