The last few years have been a mixed bag for the chain, which is owned by Dick's Sporting Goods. On the one hand, up to two-thirds of Golf Galaxy's locations were expected to close four years ago, locations the company termed "low-performing." Yet just last year, Golf Galaxy opened 36 new stores across 16 states.
Their Montrose Crossing space is now available for lease, according to a sign in the window.

Too bad this is a Federal Realty property. Otherwise we would be treated to Dyer's usual #ArgleBargle about "the rich fleeing Montgomery County".

Montrose Crossing has lost Hudson Trail Outfitters, Sports Authority, and now Golf Galaxy. Just a matter of time before Barnes & Noble closes.
B&N might be next. Word is that Federal Realty wants to redevelop this parcel now that the new sector plan has passed.
No need to go north of Montrose anymore—
