Paisano's closes in Bethesda

What's going on at Paisano's? First, the pizzeria at 4914 Del Ray Avenue posted a banner declaring it was under new management. Now the windows are (mostly) papered over, and a sign states that the restaurant is "closed for relocation."

The Bethesda location has been removed from the pizza chain's official website, and neither the site nor the restaurant are displaying a new address for a "relocated" Paisano's. Although this spot was unsuccessful for previous pizza brands, this Paisano's does have pretty good ratings from customers online. Strangely, the sign was still lit up, despite the restaurant being dark and closed last night.

It's a franchise. I'm guessing the franchisee couldn't make it work out. Too much competition nearby.

6:25 AM You mean like contacting a real, live person at Sears before claiming they were closing earlier this year?

@ 7:24 AM - You mean like the real, live person at Sears who sent the notice to the Maryland Department of Labor, announcing that the store would close, or the State of Maryland, who posted the notice on their website?

"Riefs acknowledged during a phone call that Sears was considering a store closure before it worked out the new lease with Westfield Montgomery. He declined to provide any information about the lease.

"He said Sears will contact the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation to retract the layoff notification. Federal law requires businesses with 100 or more employees to give 60 days’ notice of plant closings or mass layoffs.

"The erroneous notice was still posted on the DLLR website by Monday, which is a holiday for state employees."

7:43am Strange that a magazine would publish a story claiming Sears was closing before talking to a real, live person at Sears.

And your immediate response to any mention of that debacle is telling. Obviously it is still deeply embarrassing.

Says the whiny little guy who reflexively posted a completely irrelevant comment about Sears, just minutes after a critical comment directed at his hero Robert Dyer which actually related to the article.

8:12 AM Good news is that Sears never advertised in the magazine...not exactly a brand for well heeled Potomac and Chevy Chase housewives. So, no loss is revenue. Embarrassing though.

8:34 Wow you're an enormous loser. Do you actually have nothing else to do?

Wow! Tons of absurd comments that have nothing to do with the topic. This crappy pizza place closing is news why? That whole block has been terrible. Nothing survives.

I was looking at the articles announcing, with much fanfare, the opening of this now-moribund restaurant.

This comment caught my eye:

"Since they have the Irish flag on their sign, does this mean that they will be offering Irish Seven-Course Meals?

"(A six-pack of beer and a potato)"

Apparently this was never corrected. The colors of the Italian flag are of course, green, white, and RED, not orange.

Apparently they were lauded as the "Best Pizza" in the DC area one year on WTOP. (WTOP is a legacy terrestrial radio station for those under 55 reading this)

Irish flag. That's hilarious! Good catch.

The dinne if closing? Is that in jest? Dyer scooped again.
