Cafe X-Press adds bubble tea to menu in Bethesda

Cafe X-Press has added bubble tea to their menu. The popular cafe-deli is located at 8000 Norfolk Avenue in downtown Bethesda. Boba tea is found every other block or so in Rockville these days, but a harder-to-find beverage in Bethesda.

Just ignore the troll writing from the County Council building, folks, as I delete his "comments." What a tool.

Well, he's back in town and wants to see you.

So I guess no one is allowed to criticize you when you report a tiny menu item at a local restaurant as a newsworthy item?

Why not focus on important news for the community?

Why not interview and report on the new Chase Bank in Bethesda Row to learn about their new presence in the DMV? Looks like they also have pulled a demo permit at 7901 Wisconsin in the former Wells Fargo Bank. They have even erected a construction fence. Maybe you could contact them and report on their plans at this large building.

Why not set up an interview with Casey Anderson at the Montgomery County Planning Department to discuss the implementation of the Downtown Bethesda Sector Plan and it’s progress so far? You know, a real interview where you ask questions and report your findings, and even add your opinion, you know, like a real reporter.

Or on the other hand, maybe there is an exciting new flavor of Slushy at Seven Eleven.

I really am trying to offer constructive criticism to help you to improve this blog, not to tear you down.

6:25AM. Good luck! I fear it's only a matter of time before the deletes turn into insults, threats and lumping you in with everyone else who has tried to help that he4 calls "the troll."

6:25am we need Dyer for his impartial, skeptical reporting of our government.

The local legacy print and broadcast media does a nice job of being mouthpieces for folks like Anderson.

6:31am Dyer is the guy you love to hate apparently. You get high off hating on a local journalist. Congrats.
You sound like the man who shot the journalists at the Capitol newspaper.

@ 7:07 - You sound like Scut Farkas' little sidekick in "A Christmas Story".

6:25: How can it be constructive criticism when I've not only reported all along on the banks you refer to - and have another Chase update on the way, but you also reveal yourself as The Troll by making the worn out troll claim that I don't interview people. Meanwhile, actual readers are laughing at you, because just yesterday I interviewed someone to report on developments at a longtime Bethesda restaurant.

BOOM

My whole website, along with the others in my Suburban News Network, is all about "important news for the community" despite your and Ken Hartman's bizarre fantasy that it does not. A quick review of stories just in the last couple of weeks alone proves this. Thanks to this website, we have a new sidewalk law (although your bosses on the Council aren't enforcing it).

The "constructive" trolling you've provided rings hollow among those who recognize that I was the pioneer of hyperlocal "important news for the community" in Bethesda long before anyone else was doing it.

It's kind of scary that a county employee or councilman would anonymously harass a local journalist on a regular basis here.

"Democracy dies in darkness"

Dyer is bringing light to local government news coverage. Others are simply parroting the government's talking points.

I think you should do an update on the 3 Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurants that have opened in Bethesda in the last year. None of them seem full when I walk by, especially Chercher. My guess is at least one, and probably 2, will be out of business before the year is over.

Also there's a coming soon sign for SoldierFit on Norfolk Ave near Rock Bottom. Maybe you already reported on that one though.

8:35 AM Yup, Dyer reported on SoldierFit in January:

https://robertdyer.blogspot.com/2019/01/soldierfit-to-open-in-bethesda.html

I'm sure one of the MoCo mallwalkers will eventually report it too :)

I don't see much interest in those restaurants either. The only excitement in MoCo restaurants in terms of crowds, etc are the new Asian Food Halls, Bubble Tea places, etc.

Of course even the venerable Cafe X-Press is offering Bubble Tea. Dyer has that story right here. If you want the pulse of MoCo restaurant news, you're at the right place.

That corner never seems to be able to hold any business for long. I assume its still owned by the same owner, whoever it is, and they just keep moving from concept to concept.

Ladies and gentlemen, 9:03am is your county councilman/staff. Calling Dyer a 'retard'.

Wow.

Congratulations, 8:45. You just made the only comment out of 14 that actually relates to the subject of the article.

Anonymous said...

How do you know that, 9:07?

Wow.

I don't get the hate for this article. I live in this area and its nice to know they are serving Bubble Tea now. Its not like I stop in Cafe X-press very often, so its informative. I see Robert may have instigated some fights in the past, but now you trolls appear to be the instigators. This blog is really good for small things like this. I wouldn't say its the only place I get Bethesda news from, but why do you feel the need to attack him constantly.

Who is Ken Hartman? Who is @6:25? The insults are confusing if I don't know the players.

10:07 AM Try Google maybe?

@10:55AM Aren't you full of yourself! Too important to answer my question. Why does Ken Hartman matter to Robert Dyer?
