How can COVID be the primary reason for Dolcezza closing so many locations? It's not. It's the ridiculous pricing for what you get. People don't want to pay $6 for a single scoop of Gelato. The Bethesda Row location gets tons of foot traffic walking by and people choose to go elsewhere when walking around. They're just selling an extravagance that people realize isn't a good value compared to other options. COVID seems like a poor excuse for bad business strategy and implementation.
@5:52 AM - I agree 100%. I used to get an affogato there from time to time since I didn't feel like making one at home and I'm not aware off other places in Bethesda that offer them. Eventually I asked myself why am I paying $7+ for this whereas other places besides Bethesda are so much less. Back in May Urban BBQ announced they were closing their original location permanently due to COVID..Total BS considering the quality at that location had been dropping for years.
@11.:42 AM: That really adds up doesn't it? I can't justify going to Dolcezza for what it costs. When you factor in Tax/Tip, you're paying nearly $9 for a single scoop of gelato. That's ridiculous. If they can't offer a good product at a competitive price, they shouldn't be in business. The COVID excuse is a lame attempt to save face and deflect blame from themselves.
Their gelato used to be something special. It hasn’t been in years. They used to make the best espresso in Bethesda. Now you can’t get a good espresso in Bethesda period.
@7:18 PM: When's something is that expensive like Dolcezza is now, it's hard for me to actually enjoy it and feel like I got something special.... because I realize that I was a sucker for paying that much.
