Clove & Cedar Coffeebar at 4918 St. Elmo Avenue announced last night it will permanently close on Sunday, August 29, 2021. While the shop has maintained a loyal customer base in Bethesda since it opened in 2019, the owners found that business never recovered sufficiently from the devastating blow of the pandemic shutdowns last year. The uncertainty surrounding the Delta variant was also a factor in the decision.
While announcing the closure of this location in the Bainbridge Bethesda, the owners left open the possibility of opening in a new location, once the pandemic is finally over to a degree that it no longer impacts business. The message posted on social media said that loyal patrons could help make that possible by leaving positive reviews of the store on Yelp or Google.
