BiBiBop Asian Grill cleared out at Bethesda Row

BiBiBop Asian Grill
permanently closed yesterday at 4820 Bethesda Avenue at Bethesda Row, as the company had announced late last week. Last night, signage had already been removed from the front of the restaurant. Inside, workers were beginning the process of emptying the space out. Which restaurant would you like to see fill this spot?

Bring back the original tenant, Mr. Chung and China Village. He was the first tenant in that space, back in the early 1980s. His Peking Duck remains the best Bethesda and environs has produced.

Failing that, draft the Bangkok Garden family out of retirement. No other Thai food around here has any taste, and that includes his niece's place in Rockville's Wintergreen Plaza. She may may share the same business name as her uncle's place, but for quality of offerings the Rockville spot does not deserve mention in the same breath as the magnificent, much mourned Bangkok Garden of St. Elmo Avenue.

My two cents.

Those places had great food but let them enjoy their retirement. They earned it.

@5:56, this isn't about their well-deserved, hard-earned retirement after decades of serving the community, this is about catering to my selfish palette!

I think BiBiBop probably lost a lot of business to CAVA when they opened up. This location desperately needs a real sit down tavern/restaurant. Between CAVA, Sweetgreen, 5Guys, and Chop't all on the same block the fast casual market is covered.

Bring back Parkers.. but better. Much better actually.
