Digital sign boards have been placed on Westbard Avenue at Ridgefield Road, and at the driveway entrance to the Westwood Shopping Center. They currently state, "Road closed to thru traffic on/about 02/17/23." It's unclear what this means, if it will impede or complicate resident access to the shopping center, or how it will be enforced. While I am seeking further detail from Montgomery County and Regency Centers, file this away as a traffic alert for now.

This may be the latest attempt to stop the scofflaw drivers who persist in using Ridgefield Rd as a cut-through to westbound River Rd. Regular (non-electric) signs did not deter the pigheaded or clueless drivers who are supposed to use Mass Ave or other open roads to go west or to the beltway but continued to try and get there through Springfield or the closed portion of Westbard (only to have to turn around and re-trace their drive). Maybe the electric sign will get their attention but somehow I doubt it.
How in the world do they pull such a stunt?

I'm confused by the picture posted in a previous comment. Why did the user post a picture of the closed section of Westbard Avenue? What does that have to do with Ridgefield Avenue?
