Gusto Italian Grill installs permanent signage in Bethesda (Photos)

Well, we just found out about Tropical Smoothie Café opening on Elm Street. Now let's check in with another nearby new arrival, Gusto Italian Grill.

Yesterday, the future restaurant installed its permanent signage on the building facade, located at the corner of Elm Street and Woodmont Avenue. I first reported on Gusto last December, when it took over the former Kraze Burgers and Haagen-Dazs space. You may recall it has a "Chipotle-of-Italian" concept.

This is a booming concept nationwide so I would expect (and hope) Gusto to do well, but..... they are in a Greenhill space so give them 24 months or so before they leave. Haagen Daaz and Kraze Burger couldn't live there so no reason to expect Gusto will be any different.

So basically similar fast casual Italian concept as the failed Vapiano's across the street?

They might be better doing Korean burgers or empanadas... ahh but both those were on the same street and failed too.

God, I hate Greenhill. Why are they allowed to exist?

Vapianos needed their door to be closer to the Bethesda row side than the other side. Long wall of nothing between Taylor's and the entrance.
