Demolition update: Thyme Square/Blu Lounge on Bethesda Avenue (Photos)
The Blu Lounge, Thyme Square - whatever you know it as, it's gone. Contractor Coakley-Williams has demolished the building, to make way for a more modern and larger retail building that is being developed by The JBG Companies. There's still some work to finish up, and debris removal to be completed.

They did well to help improve the trail's safety there with additional signage and taking down the black tarp around one of the blind corners. Kudos to them.
have they shared any designs for the future building? I'm wondering what it will look like.
Any word on how long the sidewalk along Bethesda Avenue will be closed?
I can't wait until this is a one-story TD bank!
7:57 AM Dyer breaks news and then follows the story and updates us. Journalism 101 folks.
Imagine if Dyer trolled other sites, pointing out stories either plagiarized from him or not reported at all? Dyer could do that all day, every day.
7:54: There have been only a few images of a glass-facade, rectangular building that is slightly larger than the one they tore down. If you search 4733 or 4735 Bethesda Avenue, or "Thyme Square" on my blog (or click on the tag if you're in desktop browser), it should bring up the posts that showed those renderings.
8:57: No, but under the new sidewalk closure law, they are supposed to post a sign that says exactly how long the closure will last.
Bourbon, do you know dyer personally? That's a pretty impressive 100% support of Dyer if you just are a reader without ties. I like much of his posts. Some of his stuff eh but hey he does a pretty good job. But a completely rational person would hardly be so supportive. So. Disclosure. How do you know him? Relative? Friend? :)
Oh the signs are supposed to say how long? Do you have a link to the law? Thanks Robert!
Do they post a contact person number too?
I biked by there today and the detour is no big deal. Not sure what folks are saying is dangerous? Can't wait for their finished product!
2:37 PM What did I say personal about Dyer? As a reader, I appreciate that he breaks news and then follows the stories. That's Journalism 101, right?
That's a good point about the sidewalk closure signs. Didn't the county set aside funding for a sidewalk ombudsman? Has that person been hired yet?
"Bourbon", please give my regards to "Woodmont" and "Chase".
I miss Wrol and Bob Diller.
