Associated event Come Back to Bethesda, a car show, has been cancelled as well, according to Ken Hartman, Director of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center.
This is bad news not only for the restaurants that had planned to participate, but also for the retailers who are located within the event area in the Woodmont Triangle.

That's ok. All the food in Bethesda stinks anyway. It won't be missed that badly.
From his photo, Dyer appears to be taking credit for ToB being shut down.
Hate to say it, but I live downtown and am happy not to have to deal with the crowds (tourists) taking over my neighborhood for the day.
