This is so great for that end of Woodmont Triangle. That and the Brightview and Steamers replacement condo - when are those supposed to start?
Undesirable Bethesda. They are now tearing down the urban decayed shell of the former grand city of Montgomery County. Failed schools, transportation, and crime meant civilized residents fled to up-and-coming NoVa. This left the dredges of the Bethesda population left to watch their once proud town slowly rot and their buildings crumble.
7:20: Steamers is moving forward through the Planning Board process. Brightview could start anytime.

Some towns take historic buildings and renovate them with an industrial look, look at Georgetown, NYC, Old Town Alexandria, etc. Bethesda just knocks stuff down and puts up cheap cement crap
The Miller and Long building was a frequent stop on historic Bethesda building tours. Such a shame.
Was it really? What was so special about it? I'm not trying to hate on it, just seemed like any other old building to me.
Who ran historic Bethesda building tours? I'd like to see what they have on the list.
8:40AM I'm with ya on that sentiment.
8:57AM The little that I know: With the rounded building at a road triangle, it was viewed as welcoming.
Most or all of the new buildings are steel and glass
And you can't build a building out of "cement", it would fall apart before you even finished it. The word you want is "concrete".
I'm almost certain that building was built no earlier than the late 1960s.
We all know suburbia was already here when Columbus landed.
Dyer, do you plan to report on Ike Leggett's important announcement?
George Leventhal will make an awesome County.Executive. I can hardly wait!
7:21 clearly hasn't been to Arlington, Alexandria, or Tysons. There's far more redevelopment occurring there.
