Henry's Sweet Retreat opening Tuesday in Bethesda (Photos)

Henry's Sweet Retreat, a modern update of the traditional American candy store combined with a dessert bar, will open tomorrow, October 4, at 4823 St. Elmo Avenue in downtown Bethesda. The shop will be open from 1:00-8:00 PM for the grand opening.

The Henry's menu includes a wide variety of candy, chocolate, truffles, fudge, popcorn, store-made Fruitsicles, Graeter's premium ice cream, nuts, jerky, and coffee and tea.

In addition, Henry's will also be hosting children's birthday parties. Customizable, the parties can include pizza from the neighboring Corner Slice or Domino's, and offer a variety of games and activities. There is an easy form to get started planning your party on the website.

Who in the hell can afford this rent running a chocolate concept? And am I missing something? I haven't heard that candy stores or adult ones that sell boozed infused candy is a trend people are trying to capitalize on. Ridiculous!

In nearby news, anyone go to Taste of Bethesda this weekend? The photos I saw showed it fairly empty, as it was raining all day.
