Glen Mar Park latest neighborhood to donate to Westbard lawsuit

Glen Mar Park has announced their community will contribute $1000 to the Save Westbard lawsuit against Montgomery County. That brings the total number of contributing neighborhoods to seven, after earlier contributions by Sumner, Springfield, Fort Sumner, Wood Acres, Westmoreland Hills, and a recent donation to the cemetery fund by Brookdale. The lawsuit seeks to have the Westbard sector plan returned to the Planning Board and Montgomery County Council, to address illegalities in the process and plan itself.

Many are now looking to Kenwood to be the next to contribute something to the lawsuit, as that neighborhood will be even more directly impacted by the redevelopment than some of the communities who have already donated. Kenwood did get a temporary reprieve from some of the outsize development planned right next to it on River Road, after the Council decided to delay rezoning of that portion of the sector, likely to later maximize density with a "surprise" announcement of the Purple Line's extension to Westbard and the Shops at Sumner Place (shhhhh!). But their concerns about the design of the intersection of a realigned Westbard Avenue with their community's entrance, as well as their opposition to the outsized heights and density of the plan, were completely ignored by the Board and Council.

It's unclear if the Citizens Coordinating Committee on Friendship Heights will reconsider taking a position on the lawsuit, now that seven of its member organizations have endorsed it. Stay tuned for an announcement about next week's "Justice Tuesday" with Macedonia Baptist Church, as the effort to stop a parking garage - allowed in the sector plan to be built atop an African-American cemetery at Westwood Tower - from being constructed.

A park is not a neighborhood, Birdbrain.

Will CCCFH take a stand? Let's hope so.

CCCFH claims to "represent" the residents of the Westbard area, and yet they continue to ignore the fact that residents are taking a stand against the out-of-control Council and planners via the lawsuit.

@5:41 The neighborhood is, in fact, called "Glen Mar Park." I guess you don't live here.

5:44: Yes - if their member organizations are backing the lawsuit, their position should reflect that.

5:41: You're still out there with fellow carpetbagger "Helpless Hans" Riemer and his GPS, trying to learn the lay of the land in Montgomery County.

Send this project to Burtonsville or some bullshit like that. I can think of plenty of redevelopment land there like the old Giant.

And 5:41 AM stated his lie with such confidence...

What if 5:41's comment was about the picture? The picture of the park's sign. Like a tongue-in-cheek comment.

Not saying it was, not saying it wasn't.

Just another way to look at it.

6:37 AM It just shows how "anonymous" people lie (or are just a misinformed unpaid intern) just to argue with Dyer. Happens every day.

Robert Dyer said...

6:22: Well, at least they've got an interstate highway (29) running by Burtonsville with capacity to handle something like this. Here, they're not even planning to upgrade already-inadequate River Road. The SHA guy was in disbelief when he heard that at the DRC meeting last year.

And #UnsignedDyer responds in just 2 minutes. You're gonna wear out that F5 key, dude.

US 29 is not an "Interstate highway". The "US" in the designation should have been your clue.

6:39AM --- No, what it shows is humor.

It's easy to find fault when that's what you're looking for.

Robert Dyer said...

7:00: I know that, moron. I'm talking about the interstate standards of 29, as a grade-separated highway vs. River Road with a red light at every intersection. This trolling is a full time job for you, and that's how we know you're paid to do this, among other odd jobs as an impotent Guy Friday for the MoCo cartel.

The new traffic lights on River Road are very nice!

Robert Dyer said...

7:01: You just keep reinforcing that you are the troll. No random Bethesda resident would just keep posting negative about Robert Dyer, negative about Robert Dyer, "I agree with you, [comment I typed a minute ago under a different personality]" negative about Robert Dyer, negative about Robert Dyer all day and all night.

Who would be filled with such hate, and have unlimited time to cyberbully other than our resident paid troll?

Robert Dyer said...

7:31: River Road is a state highway controlled by Gov. Hogan. Helpless Hans Riemer has zippo to do with those lights. In fact, I've been advocating SHA to install those higher intensity street lamps at the pitch black intersection of River and Ridgefield for years, so you can thank me before Helpless Hans.

You're not a very successful person if you have all day to troll Dyer here. Full stop.

Three comments by Dyer in two minutes - two signed, one unsigned.

Burtonsville is 10 miles away from the nearest Metro station. Not a good comparison to Westbard.

Robert Dyer said...

7:40: Burtonsville is getting a BRT line. Which in reality doesn't function as rapid-transit, but the County is using that as an excuse for TOD at White Oak. Based on those admittedly-laughable standards, as well as superior highway access, the Regency Centers project is more appropriate for Burtonsville than Westbard.

7:38: Unlike you, coward, I actually sign all my comments like a real man.

i learn more from Anna's trivia signature than dyer's foaming at the mouth ravings.

anna did you know that the newspapers had quite a debate on whether or not to put a period after the S? It technically doesnt need one since it is just the one letter.

Anna Van Horn said...

8:38 I did not... Thanks!

(25) Post with your post number in parenthesis so we can keep track of what is missing.

(26) Agreed.

Ratio of trolling and response to discussion of issues and MoCo actions seems to grow like some kind of intrusive species.

I am genuinely mystified by Kenwood's continued disengagement. They've filed comments in the past, cogent and critical, and they're certainly in the sights of the cartel. When smaller, far less affluent associations kick in, they don't. Divided membership? Leadership issues? Strange.

(28) Counting me in. Even if some don't play along.

(29) if his own readers go to such lengths to be heard and be able to offer their opinions, imagine what a county council run would look like for Dyer. He's a brave man. I personally think the pushback against his candidacy would be huge.

(3,432) 10:59AM- Yes, the "pushback" would be like the non-existant support for the Westbard plan...just anonymous trolls online.

(30) On the original article: Three cheers for Glen Mar Park! Like 10:15 AM, I hope that Kenwood decides to support the Westbard lawsuit.

From everything I heard during the Westbard sector planning process, Kenwood residents were very upset about the Westbard sector plan.

Now that 7 surrounding neighborhood associations have contributed to the lawsuit (and non against), I think that we can safely say that there is little support for the sector plan in the surrounding neighborhoods and significant support for the lawsuit.

(32) 8:38 - Now I get it.

(33) Back to the topic of the column: If the residents of Kenwood oppose the Westbard sector plan, it would make good sense for them to support the lawsuit. From what I can see, it's perhaps the only meaningful way to change the project.

I'm curious about CCCFH: if the surrounding communities (or most of them) support the lawsuit, doesn't it make sens for CCCFH to throw its weight behind the lawsuit, too?

Robert, There is no reason to delete this post again and again and again. Why? Honest question. Why?
I'm going to defend myself. I have nothing to hide.

I posted at 6:37 and 7:01. That's it. Where is the negative towards you? I did
tell 6:39 that they were wrong, but unless that is you, no negativity. My stiletto
post on the sidewalk repair thread wasn't negative towards anyone. Sheesh.

Why do you insist I'm this vile disgusting hobo man? These accusations
against me are getting out of hand. I'll need a bigger thumb drive soon.

In reality I'm a normal professional woman who's upfront, logical, outspoken
and not with the BS. My mantra in life has always been "If you see somebody

One day I'll run into you somewhere, extend my hand and say "Hi there. I'm
Anna Van Horn." Have your digitalis ready. :)
