U.A. Salon and Day Spa to add beer & wine, mall garage adds Toyotas (Photos)

U.A. Salon and Day Spa at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda is requesting a liquor license, taking advantage of the so-called "Drybar law" that allows salons to serve clients beer and wine during their appointments. The law was nicknamed for the first business to request the right to do so, Drybar at Bethesda Row.

The salon will have their license hearing on June 1. U.A. Salon and Day Spa is located on Level 2.

Meanwhile, mall neighbor Jim Coleman Toyota is now using part of the first level of the garage off of Nordstrom and Sears to store vehicles. Previously, I have seen some of their Cadillacs in there. Among the vehicles are some of my favorite Toyotas, the Sienna, the Avalon and the Prius.

That's an ominous development.

7:06: What a moron. Having a preference for certain automobiles by certain manufacturers is not "sponsored content." I think you're still smarting from my timely article a couple of years ago that revealed the Escalade was selling like hotcakes more than ever, while you and Hans Riemer were telling us car culture was over, and we'd all be taking the bus.

Here are the sales numbers for the Cadillac Escalade, from AutoData:

2004: 36,994 (peak)

2013: 12,614 (minimum)

2014: 19,482

2015: 21,592

2016: 23,604

Up since the low point in 2013, but still down 33% from 2004.

Who do you believe that I am, and when did Hans Riemer and I actually say this?

7:55: Escalade sales are surging, as even your very conservative numbers indicate, and were especially so at Jim Coleman here in Bethesda. It was widely reported that Cadillac was having trouble keeping up with the new demand.

Anonymous said...

Higher demand than in 2013.

Lower demand than in 2008 and every year before that.

Robert Dyer said...

8:16: Remember the price of gas in 2008, and the Great Recession? Demand is rising for big SUVs. Check the business pages of any newspaper since Trump was elected.

The recession ended in 2010, and gas prices fell again in 2014. Obama, not Trump.

Are you looking for a campaign contribution from Coleman?

Honestly, if you read Roberts advertising page compared to what he reports, there is zero reason to pay, he will do it for free anyways. Just leave a tip.

Robert has a good advertising value proposition. He's the only local publisher that can target ads by community. Bethesda, East MoCo, Rockville, Gburg\Gtown.

And he doesn't require you to buy an expensive print ad that no one will see :)

Win-win.

"Friends of Woodmont Triangle" comments here at 6:05, then "Rugby" comments at 6:07 on the CVS thread. Whom do you think you're fooling?

Why would any advertisers from Gaithersburg or Germantown be interested? Dyer doesn't cover those areas.

Robert Dyer said...

4:42: You make no sense at all. If a business wants daily exposure to my large Bethesda audience, they indeed would have to buy an ad. If a real estate agent wants to put his or her name in front of condo shoppers, buying an ad is the only way to do that.

Quit embarrassing yourself.

Robert Dyer said...

6:31: Yes, I do cover Gaithersburg and Germantown on my Sam Eig blog, which is currently in beta mode. I cover the whole county through the Suburban News Network of hyperlocal sites.

I love the Bethesda Crime Blotter. I used to read it in the Gazette (RIP Gazette!), but Dyer's Bethesda Crime Blotter is much more timely.

The Gazette's lagged several weeks.

Dyer's Crime Reports have been mostly missing in action over the past several weeks. The Post has published them more consistently.

Dyer @ 8:05 PM - A total of seven articles. All but one are duplicated on your other sites, and the most recent article was on April 14 - 38 days ago.

Robert Dyer said...

9:35: Way more than 7 articles, and the site is in beta phase, dumbass. Can you not read English?

Anonymous said...

"Beta phase", or you just kinda forgot to update that site and let it float belly-up? Seems like you had somewhat regular articles until January 2016, then nothing until November 2016. And only 4-5 Gaithersburg-specific stories between November and March, and none since then.

Robert Dyer said...

9:18: You can't because you'd have to reveal your identity to do so, moron.

6:48: How do you "forget to update a site?" It's very simple, the site is in a beta phase. I tested posting frequent articles and the test ended. There are big plans for the site. You couldn't even produce one of these sites, much less four, and all of the social media work that has to be done. Look how many full-time reporters the small and slightly-failing magazine needs just to chase after my one-man enterprise. Thank God they have angel funding from the MoCo cartel to pay for them. Sad!

To be fair, you probably couldn't do his job either.

I could do a lot better than "Apartment Kitchen Fire in Kentlands" as my only Gaithersburg-Germantown-specific story in the past 100 days.

10:34: I haven't spent a dime on these sites, not mine nor anyone else's. Meanwhile, my competitors have angel investors.

4:32: No, you couldn't, especially if you had to do all the other work I've been doing in the last 100 days, *****.

10:38: Where are the other Bethesda reporters' returns? Have you obtained them yet?
