Car stolen in Kenwood

Auto thieves have started the new year in high gear in Bethesda and Chevy Chase. The latest target over the weekend was Kenwood. A vehicle parked in the driveway of a home in the 6400 block of Garnett Drive was stolen, and property was taken from at least one other vehicle on that block. It is believed that the crimes took place between 8:00 PM Friday night, and 8:30 AM Saturday morning.

And they have their own security force. Most if not all of these cases of auto theft are due to the owner leaving their key fob in the car. It's very difficult to outright steal a car despite how easy TV and movies make it seem.

Does kenwood private security do anything other than take down license plates of cars driving thru when the red arrow is lit on river road?
