lou lou boutique has closed at Bethesda Row. The store's page has been removed from the chain's website, and Google has already designated the business as having closed. Not to be confused with lululemon, which is still open for business at Bethesda Row.

That is a scary bad sign of the times. I remember when Lou Lou occupied a tiny space on the opposite side. Then they expanded, moving into the much larger space that just closed. Not that I thought much of the quality of their merchandise -- mostly cheap accessories and clothing like Francesca's -- but they appeared to be thriving before Covid hit. Expect the islands of empty storefronts dotting the Bethesda retail landscape to give way to a sea of them. What then? Dystopia here we come.
This is depressing news. I expect Bethesda and Friendship Heights will be ghost towns soon. Chevy Chase Pavilion is almost completely vacant now.
