Montgomery County police are investigating the theft of a vehicle in the Sumner neighborhood of Bethesda Monday night, September 5, 2022. The vehicle was taken from the driveway of a home in the 5600 block of Namakagan Road. Property was also stolen from at least one vehicle on that block. A thief later attempted to use a credit card stolen from the vehicle.

There is a familiar pattern here. The house is one block from Massachusetts Ave, making for a very quick getaway. The Massachusetts Ave and River Rd Corridors have become favorites for Car Thieves because they are easy streets to speed away quickly AND they represent some of most expensive Residential Areas in Bethesda and Montgomery County. We need more overnight police coverage thru these neighborhoods to catch these guys………..
Why should police step up enforcement when liberal DA's release them the very same day? Montgomery County government is the circlefest of ignorance and apathy and the people that voted them in are drones.
It's truly astonishing how Montgomery County Leadership isn't willing to do what it needs to do in order to address these thefts and prevent them from happening. What's even more astonishing is that they have a voter base which is willing to ignore that continued failure and keep voting for them. So I'm left with the only solution that will make for change: I hope more cars are stolen, but just the ones with woke stickers on them and from the houses which have "Hate Has No Home Here" signs out front.

If it takes 8 cruisers to respond to a man in mental distress throwing furniture out of his window, then how many would it take to stop a speeding stolen car and arrest the occupant(s)?
20? That's a lot of tax money at the current rate of several stolen cars every week. Wish there were some way we could self insure ourselves against theft if we own a car. Think of the savings in police manpower that we could spend on other stuff. For example, driving our kids to and from school!
Let's look at some of the recent car thefts in depth;
Four vehicles were stolen from Euro Motorcars in the 7000 block of Arlington Road early Aug. 25. Keys were stolen and used to steal the vehicles. One vehicle was recovered the same day.
A vehicle was taken in the 12200 block of Rockville Pike between 8:45 and 9 a.m. Aug. 27. A key was reportedly left inside.
A vehicle was taken in the 19600 block of Gott Street between midnight and 7 a.m. Aug. 26. The vehicle was reportedly left unlocked with a key inside.
Blame it on the owner in many, many, cases. Kinda makes you wonder if they aren't doing this intentionally.

You say "we don't have an answer" yet we have no control whatsoever of these cities and one only needs to review the last 20-months of Federal control by democrats to see what happens with them in charge.
Liberal logic in CA says eliminate ICE cars by 2035 and one week later tells the small percentage of people that own them not to charge them because the power grid has been compromised by over reliance on renewables without a backup plan.

7:24 AM is attempting to dismiss any legitimate criticism of the current MoCo Leadership and its failures on public safety as RWNJ. MoCo is exclusively under Democrat rule. Republicans have no control whatsoever in the policies or laws implemented by the County Leadership, and it's incredibly fascistic to think that the policies of the Party in charge can't even be subject to criticism. 7:24 AM is the reason I conceal carry here, because the policies they've supported and the people they've voted for have failed the community on public safety. It's pretty easy to pass through DC around here, and DC laws on carrying without a permit are quite strict, so I recommend getting your DC Conceal Carry Permit as well as part of your training. Virginia would also be good for you to have too I think.

Thank you so much! Many people, and maybe me, are waiting to see what happens with the MD Shall Issue lawsuit challenging the HQL. Liberal states like MD are making it tough to get the required certs. This is a lot of money and a big deterrent for many. That helps the little guy or the working stiff who is putting hard earned money on the table? No, that amount of money is really hard for those folks to swallow. 5:59 AM: As part of carrying (and owning), you'll definitely want to have self-defense liability insurance through USCCA (https://www.usconcealedcarry.com) or CCW Safe (https://ccwsafe.com). I have the Gold Membership Plan with USCCA and it costs me $299/year. In the case of USCCA, all of the membership tiers with USCCA give you the same insurance coverage, but the higher tiers give you additional educational benefits, etc. (Gold is the cheapest tier.) This is really important to do.

@8:41 AM: You're welcome. NOTE: As part of applying for a MD Wear and Carry Permit, you can request that an HQL be included for free as part of your application. You don't have to do an HQL first, and you shouldn't as it will cause unnecessary delays and additional costs for your Wear and Carry Permit Application. Make sure you indicate this to your course provider, retail store and the MD State Police as part of your application process. MD Wear and Carry Permits are currently taking around 50 days to approve. Good luck and stay safe.

I actually did my MD and DC Course at the same time with Capital Defense Instruction on Zoom. It was so convenient not having to go to a classroom for the course. Also, doing the MD and DC Course at the same time saved me a lot of time and expense. I was able to do it at home. After the class, I did the shooting tests for MD and DC at the range with the instructor, and now I can conceal carry in both MD and DC. 9:24 - It's really surreal that we can now get a permit to carry a firearm in MD and DC and VA which allowed previous. I think that the Capital Defense place in VA looks great and I love the Zoom portion which makes it so easy. What I don't like, and think it's a deterrent (on purpose) is the tremendous cost. The fees that are charged are more, in some cases, than the firearm itself. Should there be training? Yes, I think there should be without a doubt. But that's a lot of money and today, with all the inflation craziness, etc, that's way down the list of what to spend hard earned dollars on.

MD: CCW Fee is $75
DC: CCW Fee is $75
VA: CCW Fee is $100
The State fees (and fingerprinting etc.) are a small part of the overall cost.
For example, a MD-compliant (and DC-compliant) Glock 9mm (Model 43X/48) suitable for conceal carry costs in the neighborhood of $500. I recommend ordering ammunition online in bulk for training/self-defense as it's substantially less money to do so. I routinely order 1,000 rounds at a time from Targetsports USA through the Target Prime program. Others I know use Ammoseek, but I've had good luck with Target Sports so I stick with that mainly. You'll also need to get a quality holster and mag carrier for carrying: I recommend Vedder. You'll need cleaning patches and cleaner/oil, which can be bought at a gun store or online (Amazon actually sells a lot of gun accessories and supplies.) You'll want to get extra magazines and a carrier for practice at the range. You'll also need Self-Defense Liability Insurance as I mentioned before.
The required CCW courses are 16 hours in the case of MD/DC (combined) and 4 hours in the case of VA. You're paying for the instructor's time and frankly, you're learning how to properly use and carry a weapon which can result in grievous harm to another person or yourself. The CCW courses are not enough on their own. I highly recommend taking private lessons with an instructor either before purchasing or after you purchase your firearm, but before using it. The CCW providers also give private instruction, or you can find another instructor through the Range or Gun Store. You'll need to go to the range regularly to maintain proficiency with your firearm, on top of practicing at home by dry-firing. You'll need to keep your firearm clean, oiled and well-maintained. If you're not prepared to take all of this seriously and spend the money and time that's necessary to be safe, competent and proficient, don't do this. I'm serious. If you are, then you'll find your new hobby very rewarding.

@10:56 AM: You're welcome. Don't forget targets for the range. I like Splatterburst Targets because you can easily see your hits and patch them. Get yourself a big roll of target spot patches and you can keep using the same target for a while. (Targets/Patches are available on Amazon and in gun stores.) Of course, some people use paper plates and draw a large filled circle at the center. Whatever you prefer.
Also: Get a real gun belt for carrying to pair with your holster and mag carrier. Vedder sells nice ones.
In terms of other apparel, 5.11 on the Pike has clothing (pants/shorts/shirts/outer garments) which will enable you to conceal carry comfortably. Check out their website.
