Construction begins on Aventino restaurant in Bethesda (Photos)

The interior fit-out of Chef Mike Friedman's Aventino restaurant and AP Pizza Shop has begun at 4747 Bethesda Avenue. It's been nearly 18 months since I first broke the story about the new Roman Italian eatery, but as you can see here, work has finally begun inside the space in the ground floor of JBG Smith's Class A office building. Aventino will serve "peasant food" dishes inspired by simple Italian and Jewish recipes of Rome, and is anticipated to open in early 2023.

Ironic that Bethesda coastal elites and wannabe elites would have a hankering for Italian peasant food.

Ignorant comment. But hey, you got me to read, so I guess it worked? SMH.

Your inferiority complex is showing, 12:15.

One of the things I love about the folks around here is that they don't restrict their scorn to the truly offensive comments but spread it liberally if they suspect they are being mocked.

you know everyone, it's OK to not have a strong opinion about absolutely every little thing that happens in this city

About time. It certainly sat long enough. I'm amazed they had the money for that.

@12:15 PM: Hey, it's hard times on everyone with inflation. They want to go out, but they need to cut back on the Branzino to make the car payments.
