Vehicles arrive at Koons Lincoln of Bethesda (Photos)

Things are really starting to move at the future Koons Lincoln of Bethesda dealership at 7315 Wisconsin Avenue. On Tuesday, artwork was being hung inside. Yesterday, the actual SUVs arrived and were driven into the showroom. An employee was working inside late last night, suggesting they are making final preparations for opening.

This kind of urban showroom makes a lot of sense for Lincoln. They don't have that large of a vehicle line, much like Tesla, so they can fit in a small space. A few of the most popular trim levels can be parked nearby for test drive purposes. For a brand like Ford or Chevy, this is not possible, beyond the small segment of buyers willing to spend five figures without inspecting or driving the vehicle first.

Ahh the Lincoln Navigator… nothing quite like a nearly three ton, 6 to 8 passenger American SUV that starts at $80K to $105K and gets 16 MPG, across the street from a Metro and Purple Line Station, and physically on top of the Capital Crescent Trail.

A Tesla or Lucid studio would have fit better with the Bethesda audience.

@10:36 AM: Tesla already has a store at Montgomery Mall which gets a lot of foot traffic. I'm not sure it would make sense for them to place a second store in Downtown Bethesda. However, it would make sense for Lucid to put a store in Downtown Bethesda.

"Lincoln promises three new EVs by 2025, a fourth in 2026, and full electrification of its portfolio by 2030."
