Delhi Spice opening soon in Bethesda

Moh Moh Licious has closed at 4925 Bethesda Avenue in downtown Bethesda. It will soon be replaced by Delhi Spice, which - as you may have guessed from the name - will be an Indian restaurant. Delhi Spice has a liquor license hearing scheduled for January 5, 2023. While you are awaiting their opening announcement, you can get a sneak peek at their menu on DoorDash.

That neighborhood really needs to be fully redeveloped. Awkward head-in parking and non-contiguous sidewalks make it very dangerous. Zoning allows up to 45’ so three stories of multifamily housing over nice new retail shops and restaurants, with underground parking would be a great improvement. Ditch the head-in parking and use parallel street parking and nice wide sidewalks lined with outdoor dining. Too bad much of the block is taken up by the Mercedes dealership.

I imagine the block is owned by many different individuals, so it will be difficult to assemble property. Perhaps Federal Realty will take the initiative to extend the vibe of Bethesda Row one block to the west.

8:41am - Indeed - redevelopment of the old brick garden apartments should be included as well!

8:41 Disagree with that. Not every one wants to live in a high rise box.

I don’t think a four story high apartment or condo building, with retail and restaurants on the ground floor would be considered a high rise box. The buildings can only be a maximum of 45’ tall.
