TJ Maxx is closing at 5300 Wisconsin Avenue NW in Friendship Heights. The store will close its doors forever on Saturday, December 24, 2022. A closing sale is underway. Mazza Gallerie is going to be demolished to make way for a new, mixed-use development. Relics of the once-crowded mall now share facade space with advertisements and political posters slapped on by passersby, after the flight of the rich from Montgomery County to lower-tax jurisdictions in the region tanked the Friendship Heights retail economy.

I have not seen any renderings for the future building(s) on the Mazza site.
Robert - this TJ Maxx info is kinda old news! DSW on Wisconsin Ave. is closing on Jan. 21. The bldg that DSW is in is going to be demolished for another mixed use bldg. of residences with retail on the 1st floor. Don't know the schedule but have seen the renderings.
7:19: It's new news. The signs were posted only a few days ago. The DSW site, I think that is the Federal Realty project?
I believe the DSW site is owned by Federal Realty. Shalom Baranes is the architect unless something has changed recently.
As Robert has reported previously, the buildings between the Embassy Suites and the office building at Jenifer St, along with Mazza Gallerie, will all be torn down, leaving the neighborhood with even less retail.
Drove past it today, they are now closed.
Stick a fork in it! Detroit, Here We Come!!
