Diners finding Cubasi Bistro closed in Bethesda

Several Bethesda diners report that they have found Cubasi Bistro closed at 4710-A Bethesda Avenue recently, during its posted operating hours. Indeed, it was closed Wednesday evening, as seen here. On Google, the Cuban restaurant is described as "temporarily closed." The recently-opened restaurant has received high marks from diners on Yelp and Google.

We tried their Cuban sandwich, and were not impressed. My hope is that this space might be the new home of Vace or Lance’s Beer and Wine once the demolition for the proposed 19-24 story high mixed use residential over retail project gets underway. There will be new Class A retail in the base, but its unlikely that Vace or Lance’s could afford the rent in the new building and the loss of business during construction.

@7:46 a recently opened restaurant and you wish to see them gone because you didn't like the sandwich you had, how noble of you. Sudden closure could be caused by a number of unforeseen factors, stop an think for a second before pouring your own whine.

In other new restaurant news, I tried out La Catrina a few days ago. The food is really good -- they make all their sauces in-house. I think they have a good chance of surviving if they can draw the customers in.

Sorry but I didn’t like their signature sandwich. Perhaps you are correct, and they have shut down to perfect their menu…

Gotta love a good Cuban Sandwich.

They are closed due to worker shortages.

Food was good but few people were ever in there. My guess is they didn't have the funding to keep it going long enough to get a following.

They had signage that they needed workers. I almost went once but the prices for a lunch sandwich were extremely high also.
