Tara Thai has closed at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. Signage has been removed from the exterior of the restaurant. This ends a long run in Bethesda by the local Thai chain, which was at Bethesda Row until 2015, when it relocated to the mall. Tara Thai's Rio location in Gaithersburg has also closed. The only good news is that this opens up a fairly large restaurant space at the mall for a new tenant. Which restaurant chain would you like to see here?

There's a dearth of Asian buffets around here. Wish we could get one of those.
Although probably not really 'Asian,' I'd sure like to see a Mongolian Barbecue.
The restaurant's website hasn't been updated for either the Westfield/Montgomery Mall or Rio locations and lists the Rockville Pike, several other locations in Virginia, and one in Hyattsville as still open. The Yelp page for the Rockville Pike location is active and does not indicate that the location is closed, for anyone who is looking to dine at Tara Thai.
This place had the worst hours. Closing at 8 pm routinely. Unsurprised.
You're either a true restaurant or a mall restaurant. The mall has spoken.
I do quite miss the Mongolian BBQ that use to inhabit the Panera bread space.
