Bomb scare at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda

Montgomery County police were called to Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda Friday night to investigate a bomb threat. A mall patron reported that the shopping center had been evacuated around 7:50 PM. Another patron reported that the evacuation interrupted his showing of the Barbie movie. MCPD officially acknowledged the bomb threat at 8:12 PM. Fifty-eight minutes later, the department stated "Montgomery Mall bomb threat determined not valid. Mall has been cleared and turned back over to mall security."

This is a very helpful post here and I'll tell you why. It's a not so subtle reminder that situational awareness these days (and probably at any time in the past) is critical. People don't have a plan, including me, for what to do and how if something goes down. A movie theater for example, as you mentioned, can be a death trap. You gotta know, on every common area, every store, every corner, where an alternate exit is. Every expert in what we'll call "suburban survival" says have a plan, execute, get out and call for help. I wasn't sure I really needed this bomb scare alert on my Ring camera community notification but now think that was a good service.
