Here's a look at the latest progress at the construction site of Westbard Square at 5400 Westbard Avenue in Bethesda. You can see a couple of light fixtures have been installed on either side of that grand doorway on Westbard Avenue. Sidewalks are going in along the Westbard Avenue side, as well. Tenants signed to leases so far are anchor tenant Giant, Voothuis Opticians, Westwood Barber Shop and Starbucks. Delivery of this Phase 1 building is anticipated for November 2023.

I tried to take the Purple Line from downtown Bethesda with a stop in Westbard, on my way to Tysons, but alas, this top secret light rail system does not seem to be operational (yet).
Does this mean the road and Giant/Starbucks/etc will be opened in their new location this fall?
10:28: The new Giant is scheduled for delivery by the end of November. Starbucks can open anytime after that, as well. Westbard Avenue was scheduled to reopen in September, but the interior road connecting Westbard with the Westbard Square parking garage probably won't open to the public until the tenants do.
The Westbard Barber Shop will face Westbard directly across from the Citgo. They hope to open before Thanksgiving.
