Giant drill appears in Bethesda's Woodmont Triangle (Photos)

A giant drilling rig was parked at the corner of Woodmont and Cordell Avenues in Bethesda's Woodmont Triangle neighborhood Monday. Several scary-looking toxic waste barrels are now in place there, as well. Is this a Halloween display? Should we expect to see J.R. Ewing's Cadillac Allante cruising the Triangle?

No, it appears to be environmental testing being performed on the future site of the 8008 Wisconsin luxury apartment project. The scary barrels actually proclaim they are "non-hazardous waste."
The environmental testing is being conducted by ECC of Chantilly. Douglas Development is the developer of 8008 Wisconsin, which was delayed this year by Montgomery County demands that Douglas turn over land to the County for Bus Rapid Transit facility right-of-way.

I believe that "toxic waste barrels" labeled as "non-hazardous waste" may be more accurately be referred to as "barrels."

Looking forward to this building. Hope it stays apartments.

The barrels are only "scary" to a knee-jerk reactionary that whines at everything. The sky is not falling.

Lol. Spot on, G. Money.

8:38: "Knee jerk reactionary"? The County Council already has that covered. Panhandlers! Plastic bags! Guns! Free speech in private clinics! Walmart!

Perhaps after you're done picking up Hans Riemer's dry cleaning, you can remind the Council that "the sky is not falling."

Oh yeah, with early voting, they had "whines" covered as well.

Of course they labeled them "non-hazardous." Attracts less attention.

Fracking in Bethesda?

"Panhandlers! Plastic bags!"

What's Dyer on about this time?

How did Riemer come into this? Off topic much?

I heard that a panhandler made a sculpture of Hans Reimer out of plastic bags

Can you please explain this personal vendetta against Hans Reimer? I'm a fairly new reader of your blog, and these persistent personal attacks on the man are confusing to me, especially since his name does not appear in any of the "news" stories above the comment sections where he is mentioned.
