Tattered U.S. flag over MoCo garage in Bethesda (Video/photos)

The U.S. flag over the Auburn-Del Ray (Montgomery County Parking Garage 36) parking garage in downtown Bethesda is tattered, and one of the strands is caught, preventing it from flying properly in the wind. This has been the case since at least April. As you can see in the above video, the County flag is blown straight out by the wind, while the American flag cannot unfurl properly.

Apparently the County Council doesn't get around here often, except when touring by bus at Westbard. And even then, they drove right past multiple violations of the County sidewalk shoveling law along Westbard Avenue and Ridgefield Road - some in front of County property - and took no action.

I stand with Robert on this one. Mistreatment of the flag by the staff of this garage is an affront to our President in specific and progressive American values on the whole. Until this is remedied, you will not see any of our vehicles parked in that garage.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention Robert.

Did you report it to 311? Seems like an issue for MCDOT, not the County Council, unless Riemer and his gang are the ones maintaining the garage.

Spot on @6:18. Too bid Dyer is an incapable of any actions other than blaming the County Council for everything. Call 311, report it and let the appropriate people handle it, don't just whine like a buffoon on your blog while real news stories are happening elsewhere

"Flags are bits of colored cloth that governments use first to shrink-wrap people's minds and then as ceremonial shrouds to bury the dead."

Why do we even need a flag over a goddamn parking garage? Are we afraid that we might forget we're American? This flag worship is just sickening.

MoCo's parking lot security really should have dealt with this. They are supposed to patrol this garage.

I've seen what looks like the paid guards on the ground sleeping by the elevator on the top level of this garage. This flag pole is directly above that elevator. Someone wake the guard up and tell him to go back to work!

You're absolutely right, they're priorities are totally out of whack. I want my tax dollars to pay council members' salaries specifically for them to drive around to all 32 parking facilities in the county to inspect things such as if the flags are "unfurling correctly."

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. This has certainly influenced my opinion of our elected legislative body, as well as certain challengers, and I'll be voting accordingly during the next county election.

6:46 AM Well, having a councilmember that lives in Bethesda would be a start.
I give Berliner a pass since he lives on Rockville Pike and isn't seen in downtown Bethesda.

Dyer why dont you get your mom to lift you up the pole to fix it yourself instead of writing a ridiculous post about it?

Silly little fanboy. All about the Dyer.

I see Wolf Blitzer much more often than I ever see Berliner or Reamer in downtown Bethesda.

Do they every hang out here, other than for ribbon cuttings and campaign fundraisers?

I guess the voters looked at the "lifelong Bethesda resident", and decided that he wasn't qualified.

11:33AM is still a silly little fanboy.
