Westwood Wednesdays, Equity One refers to Westbard properties as Westwood Square

Property owner Equity One is building on its trend of hosting events at the Westwood Shopping Center with Westwood Wednesdays, starting tomorrow, May 11. Westwood Wednesdays will be held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month through October this year.

Each Westwood Wednesday will feature food trucks, live music, games, and special deals or prizes. The events will be held in the parking lot near Rite Aid from 5:00-8:00 PM.

Tomorrow's event will include live performances by Maryland power pop artist David Andrew Smith; food trucks Balkanik Taste and Holy Crepes; games like cornhole, ring toss, hula hoops, ladder ball, and sidewalk chalk; and a free ice cream bar for the first 100 people who purchase a meal.

Balkanik Taste rates 4.5 stars on Yelp, and their menu includes an interesting Balkan Burger, or "Pljeskavica." The $8 traditional Serbian burger is made with ground pork and beef, and served on a bun with Ajvar, white cabbage slaw, tomato and onions. Ajvar is a Serbian relish. You can also grab a bottle of their special Hot Sauce for $5.99 to take home.

Holy Crepes can be for dessert, or a main course with their savory varieties. Check their menu for more.

In other Equity One Westbard news, the company has begun referring to its 22-acre suite of properties along Westbard Avenue and Ridgefield Road as "Westwood Square" in some corporate materials online. It's unknown as of press time whether this is the branding that will be used for the final redevelopment of the "Westwood Complex."

I've eating at Balkanik Taste. He used to come to Bethesda. Decent food and the owner is a really nice guy.

The twins love cornhole! I am texting the Au Pair right now to make sure she takes them to this event.

Sounds like Equity One is trying again to improve their badly stained reputation after calling the tow trucks last time on their customer base. Too bad the hard working food vendors and a solid talent in David Smith will be there in the rain when no one shows up. Pretty sad.. Corn hole in a sea of asphalt, not so great :( . Even a postage stamp sized park beats this setup.

@ 5:49 AM - How many customers are actually boycotting Westbard?

On competing local wrestling teams, Poppy's twins are known as "The Cornhole Gang".

Smart for them to disassociate from the Westbard resident NIMBYs

I can't wait until they hand out sledge hammers and we can start the demo work.

Dyer- do you think you will participate in this or is the pain still too bad from your sorry ass protest butt whippin?

Dyer has been pushing back against bad development proposals for awhile. Westbard is just one recent example.

Reamer and Leventhal will be unveiled from behind a curtain during the event, with gold sledgehammers in hand.

Equity One will then tow everyone's car away as demolition begins.

@940 as long as they take Dyer's minivan with them- I am all for it! Dweeb

I hope to break of a good piece of the shopping center as a souvenir/trophy.

Equity One will post pictures of Dyer's face on the walls, for sledgehammer targets.

Kick his ass Seabass!!!

It's a trap!

They should have a Nancy Floreen dunking booth, hundreds would rally to take a shot at that word slurring leftist nitwit. Also, Leventhal could give her a break, maybe put a big target on that shiny chrome dome of his. Perhaps he will finally have found his purpose in life.

Robert Dyer said...

2:01: Yeah, a purpose besides screaming at female County employees and self-promotion. How narcissistic is the County Council? When Leventhal wrote about Chelsea Clinton speaking at Denizens in Silver Spring, he didn't upload a picture of Chelsea Clinton like most people would - he uploaded a picture of HIMSELF LISTENING TO CHELSEA CLINTON.

I was at the dry cleaners at Westbard today. I'm not sure businesses like this really need to be saved. There was huge layer of dust on the blades of the overhead fans, and the frames holding various posters were falling apart and torn. The place reeks of years of neglect. Same for a few (but not all) of the other business I peeked into, like the nail salon, Chinese place, liquor store, and pet store. Starbucks looked quite modern though.

Why are we fighting to preserve these businesses that don't seem to care about themselves? The places are falling apart!

I also looked at the massive parking lot where they plan to have these Westwood Wednesdays. Unless they truck in some type of astroturf, it's not a great place to have it. They should cordon off that part of the parking lot and make it into a makeshift playground. Kids and families will come then, since there aren't other play areas nearby.

They should also make it Westwood Fridays -- more people have time to come out then.

The barber shop is essentially the same as it was 50 years ago. I won't miss those depressing fluorescent fixtures and ceiling tiles, but I hope that they take that 1960s Lloyd's radio with them to their new place.

Yes, the new Westwood will be so much better with a lame chain like Hair Cuttery.

4:58 PM - Full of assumptions, aren't we, Team Birdbrain? I meant their new place...in Westwood Square.

9:34pm you're right. If Westbard is lucky, they'll get a Bubbles... Another chain :/
I doubt it though.. Probably a super cuts.

Hands Reimer will be filling up balloons for the 2 lost children who show up, no need for helium he'll just use his own hot air. Maybe he'll read a rambling incoherent equality and high end housing for all speech too..

8:00am It will be remembered as the speech where Reamer was either lying or misinformed when he talked about Westbard Ave. being a mile from two Metro stations.

You'd think his staff would have correct info. He somehow saw two Metro stations during his infamous bus tour of Westbard.

Rick was misinformed. Hans Riemer?
