Robert what is your favorite flavor? I have been there a few times and can't find one that I love. Any suggestions would be helpful!

Robert Dyer said...

I would go for a peanut butter power smoothie.

Have you done any youtube reviews for Smoothie King? I would suggest! Would be very helpful since they just closed their older location and I am trying to decide if it is worth traveling all the way down to their Bethesda Ave store.

Wow, Robert and I have the same favorite smoothie...do I jump off the top of the highest building in Bethesda now or do you? We can't both live on this Earth.

Read the fine print Dyer! 12 oz Caribbean Way only - what a scam!

8:30 what are you blabbing about??

How are the lines? If it's anything like the Jimmy Johns giveaway, I'm staying away. :(

@ 9:18 AM - Why is it so important for you to understand what he is trying to say?

Free smoothie! Bright spot on a gloomy day.
Thanks Smoothie King!

I tried the Peanut Butter smoothie today (wasn't free) and they said I was the only one that had ever ordered it besides "some dorky looking creep with glasses that always wears a tux."

I see "someone" deleted the post at 9:05 that linked to an actual news story about the County Council raising property taxes? I guess Dyer doesn't care about that because he lives in his mom's basement and gets by with free smoothies!

@11:58, come on! Don't you know free smoothies are much more important news than pretty much anything else? I mean, if equity one could have scheduled a free smoothie event to coincide with the west bard sector plan vote, Dyer wouldn't even have known the vote was happening

Robert - FYI I just got back from the free smoothies at Smoothie King. I went with a group of about 10 close friends. We had never been and the owner was so thrilled that we came in, as he hopes for repeat business.

When he noticed all of us were together, he asked how we found out about the promotion. As avid readers of your blog, we've known about this since the post was first published this morning. Thank you again!

However, the owner wanted to give a $50 gift card to whoever told us about free Smoothie Day, so I thought I'd let you know I immediately chirped up and said "Hans Riemer!".

No soup for you, Dyer!

Fanboy is begging for attention from Robert Dyer.
Even begged Dyer to troll him on his blog yesterday. Desperate for Dyer's attention.

@ 5:40 PM - What do you have against complete sentences?

Anonymous said...

How come Dyer isn't providing updates to his readers on the status of the proposed school bus terminal at the Culver site?

Robert Dyer said...

9:20: I just had a full report this morning on RockvilleNights.com - why would I cover a Rockville story in great detail on a Bethesda blog?

Robert Dyer said...

11:28/11:58: Great job spamming for the glossy magazine. Too bad spamming on my site is the only way you can get traffic that you haven't purchased with cash from Google, Twitter, Facebook. A sorry situation at the magazine that's brought you this low.

Robert Dyer said...

11:28: Your patron Hans Riemer is voting to raise taxes? What a shock. Did you pick up his drycleaning yet, Guy Friday?

Anonymous said...

Dyer sure is resentful of his betters. LOL

What exactly is the problem with Bethesda Magazine/Beat? I've been following Bethesda Now since long before they merged with Bethesda Magazine. It's a legitimate site with good local stories. Now that the Gazette is gone I frequent it daily, along with this blog.

Yeah, there's plenty of stuff I don't care about such like the Daily Quiz or HS sports, but there's stuff on this blog I don't care for as well such as the unsubstantiated comments about the supposed moribund economy and the extremely long attack rants.

Both sites have their pluses and minuses.

Anonymous said...

The Daily Quiz IS the good part!!!
To me it's all fluff and gloss. They have ridiculously high advertising rates.
And they pander to the county council.

At this point they may as well be called "Kneepads"

Anonymous said...

I find them to be objective for the most part. They neither offer praise or criticism, and they've reported on a lot of controversies in the county government, including tax increases, BRT, and the school bus site. None of those stories were exactly flattering to the county govt. I'm surprised Dyer hasn't jumped all over the tax bump. Anyways, If I was a council member paying for positive news I know I would be pissed for not getting my money's worth.

Anonymous said...

I don't agree with how they cover county news. Very pro-council pro-development. Their reporting on meetings that I've attended has been wishy-washy, downplaying both the council and the residents views. It's like they like the developers best.
My 2 cents.

"To me it's all fluff and gloss. They have ridiculously high advertising rates

OK, if you think that they're just "fluff and gloss", then why are you whining that you can't afford to advertise there? If they can charge a lot for ads, then they must be getting a lot of readers.

Bethesda Beat has some good stories, but it's funny how about half the news they report was reported by Dyer first. It's like the BB people sit in their office, wait for Dyer to break a story, then publish their own version of it. Only sometimes do they give him credit for it.

Then there's that printed magazine. Good god! It's 90% pages of advertising, and 10% content. Most content is written by bored stay at home moms pretending they are "freelance journalists." I had a subscription for a year then never renewed, but I see their phonebook-sized ad tomes in my dentist and doctor's office.

Ahh, and then their "Best of Bethesda" scam. Isn't it such a coincidence that the winners always seem to be their advertisers? Then, they make the categories so specific that an advertiser can take first in a category even if another advertiser offers something similar, like "Best Diner South of Woodmont Ave" and so on.

It's funny how the Shill repeats the same lame talking points, again and again and again.

Anonymous said...

Whoa. 10:36. Settle down, cowboy.
Mentioning high ad rates sure hit a nerve.
Enough for you to twist words to change the meaning. Whining? Please. I inquired for a small business Bethesda client and we both found the rates too high for what you get.
But why did it rattle you so?

Anonymous said...

@ 12:32 PM (2nd of 2) - From your verbiage, it sure sounds like you're the one who's "rattled". LOL

Anonymous said...

I've never read the printed magazine, so it could be garbage for all I know. I also don't care about the Best of Bethesda stuff either. The only stuff I read is really what A. Kraut and the other guy brought over from Bethesda Now writes. Honestly, I would have preferred if they were still separate.

I seriously doubt that they "wait" on Dyer to report something and copy/paste it. Sometimes Dyer reports something first, sometimes they do, and if Dyer does break something first they usually do give him credit. If it's something big, I mean everybody's going to write about it anyway, and just because some outlet releases first doesn't mean that everybody after is plagiarizing.

I also like that they get direct quotes. That's something I would like to see more of on this blog. Dyer reports good stuff, but it would be nice to have *direct* quotes from business owners, developers, residents, and politicians to complement the nice pictures and detailed write-ups.

12:38 Hahaha. I see what you did there. Respect.

Anonymous said...

@12:22 (second one) It was calling it KNEEPADS that got him pissed off. He works there?

Anonymous said...

Shill seems to be saying, "BM sucks and no one reads them. But I wish their ad rates were cheaper, so I could buy an ad there."

Anonymous said...

7:30 We'd much prefer that YOU did a YT vid, show your face.

Serious question, do trolls actually have faces? Discuss.

Anonymous said...

Does 5:40 PM have a face? Or an actual name? And who is "we"? He and Dyer?

Anonymous said...

6:26 Yes I do and IT'S SPECTACULAR, u troll.
