Bethesda demolition update: Steamers (Photos)

Demolition continues at the site of the vacant Steamers, located at the corner of Norfolk and Auburn Avenues in downtown Bethesda. The property will be redeveloped with The Claiborne, a 10-story luxury condo building. At least one tree was cut down, as the tree trunk chunks in these photos attest.

These property owners declined
to sell to the developer of
The Claiborne, which will
be built on the Steamers site

Why can't we just demolish and rebuild everything in that area - all the restaurants suck!

You were saying something about "dumpster-diving hobo" earlier, Dyer?

9:41 Good point. I've been saying that for some time now.

12:41: Yeah, from what I could tell, you had already hit this one up.

Even Bill Turkey is scooping you on the controvery over the email lists, Dyer.

6:58: That was an inside job from Berliner's office to the small and slightly-failing magazine. No other journalists would have had any way to know about it, so not a scoop.

But I'm actually delighted about it, because their devious plan to take out Bobby Lipman ended up severely damaging Hans Riemer (who probably didn't even have anything to do with the plot against Mr. Lipman). Thank you, small and slightly-failing magazine!

Can we all agree at this point that Han Riemer shouldn't be anywhere near the levers of power?

Robert Dyer said...

8:25: Absolutely! Everything the guy touches implodes. Now he's broken the law, possibly for at least the second time in his term.

@4:44: Finally, you're talking about Trump!

Remember that time Hans kicked your ass in the election? He embarrassed you. Bitter are we? Just a tad?

Councilman Hans to you, bubba. Somewhere on the hierarchy is Bethesda Beat ahead of you as they are an actual trafficked site and then you - the slightly failing hobbyist blogger without even a real site.

He won the election. You did not. Full stop.

That is a fact that will never change.

He won.

7:15: Psh. Take away their paid Google placement clicks and I'm demolishing them. Stats show people spend more time per visit on my site, and click through further, whereas they don't click through on Bethesda Magazine at all - primarily due to realizing they were duped by clickbait and just want to get the hell out of there.

So, real site, and mine isn't funded by the MoCo cartel, either.

11:12: So? David Duke and Robert Byrd won elections, too. Both KKK leaders. "Full stop. That is a fact that will never change. They won." Go pick up Helpless Hans' dry cleaning, Guy Friday.

More time is spent on your site because people like to rip you a new one for your lack of transparent, unbiased stories. A little blogger with a small audience, you are. Journalist, you are not.

5:02: I've broken all the big stories in Bethesda - the rape on the CCT, underground fuel spill, Westbard cemetery, Bruce Variety closing (twice - both locations), illegal use of funds by MoCo government, many, many more.

Journalist, I am. More time is spent on the site because, duh, people are clicking through and haven't been duped by a fake news, clickbait headline they back out of once they realize they were tricked.
