Bethesda construction update: West Lane Apartments (Photos)

The West Lane Apartments project is in the early stages of construction in downtown Bethesda. A seven-story building with with 112 units (15% of which will be affordable), it will be located on land formerly occupied by single-family homes on West Lane, just off of Montgomery Lane.

Building features will include a 2-level underground parking garage, a gym, a terrace bar, and the ubiquitous rooftop deck. SJG Properties is the developer, SK+I is the architecture firm, and Clark Construction is the contractor.

The LEED Silver-aspiring project is expected to deliver in 2018.

It's a shame these properties so close to the metro are so low in height and density. Realistically these single family homes and townhomes are the problem.

Andrea - Blame Edgemoor for that. They are even worse NIMBY assholes than Westbard.

All the density goes to Westbard!

The ironic thing is that a lot of the opposition to height along Arlington Rd., specifically the block between Edgemoor and Moorland has come from high-rise condo residents, specifically the Christopher.
