Redwood still battling to reopen after pipe floods Bethesda Row restaurant

Redwood Restaurant and Bar on Bethesda Lane remained closed yet another night. A new sign posted offers a conflicting message to the more optimistic one currently on their Facebook page.

The sign says they now hope to reopen "early next week" (which is now early this week, given that today is Sunday). They say a remediation crew is scheduled to work inside the restaurant until then. Last night, coiled hoses were visible on the floor of the dining room.

There is one bit of good news - Redwood is promising free soup when they reopen. With these temperatures, I'm sure many will be taking them up on that offer.

Why didn't you report this sometime yesterday afternoon, so customers wouldn't end up making a futile trip on the coldest day of the year?

I must note the Community post is the 3rd in as many days to disallow comments as part of Robert Dyer's failed "journalism" initiative.

One closure

Five days

Three articles

10 photos...

But no live people contacted.

Community failed due to awful service. Everyone who went said the same thing. It wasn't Riemer's fault.

8:32AM Dyer quotes an employee in his original reports, so your statement is false and irrelevant. Try again, troll.

The scanner was reporting a vampire hanging around Bethesda Row last night. Now we know why... Dyer!

Tuesday January 2: "Redwood will be closed tonight due to a burst water pipe. The restaurant on Bethesda Lane is cleaning up, and using fans to dry out the space. They hope to reopen tomorrow (Wednesday) or Thursday."

Thursday January 4: "Meanwhile, Redwood was not able to reopen yesterday, following a burst pipe on Monday. They will try again today, according to an employee."

Friday January 5: "Redwood Restaurant and Bar was closed again last night on Bethesda Lane, after being closed two previous days due to a burst water pipe. A wet-dry vac could be seen inside the dining room last night. There is a schedule posted on the Redwood website showing the hours they will be open each day through January 7. No explanation is given, and they were actually not open on January 3 and 4, contrary to the hours shown for those evenings. According to the schedule, they will be open regular hours today and tonight, so we'll have to see what happens."

Sunday January 7: "Redwood Restaurant and Bar on Bethesda Lane remained closed yet another night. With these temperatures, I'm sure many will be taking them up on that offer."

So, in the past five days, just one comment from "an employee", but no attempts to contact the managers or owners.

11:32 AM calm down...they said they're trying to open early this week. What more do you want?
Dyer is on top of the story.

Sheesh, 12:15 - Obviously 11:32 wants a story with participation by Redwood.
Silly for you to think that a factual defense of another's poster's insult is anything more than it appears, a factual defense.

"Dyer is on top of the story." - ouch, that probably hurts! ;)

So we're all on the same page:
FOR 2018
Sheepshills need new catch-phrases and updated names
Trolls need new jokes
Dyer needs to talk to people

What'd I forget?

Hmm ...how curious! I just now noticed that all three of the recent posts for which comments are disabled just so happen to make specious, unfounded claims about Hans Reimer and his "nighttime initiative." (I hope Dyer didn't hurt himself too badly stretching to make the connection on the Safeway one.)

Could it be that the author, still smarting from his electoral thumping several years ago, seeks to publish hit pieces against President Reimer that will turn up on Google searches, but does not wish for any contrary opinions to appear on those posts? That would be awfully unethical...

NOTE: This is a re-post of a previously-deleted comment, further suggesting the author is trying to hide from criticism about his ridiculous claims.

No comments allowed on Community. Hmm.

8:05 - why no comments? Boggles the mind.

A young boy enters a barber shop and the barber whispers to his customer, 'This is the dumbest kid in the world. Watch while I prove it to you.'

The barber puts a dollar bill in one hand and two quarters in the other, then calls the boy over and asks, 'Which do you want, son?' The boy takes the quarters and leaves.

'What did I tell you?' said the barber. 'That kid never learns!' Later, when the customer leaves, he sees the same young boy coming out of the ice cream store.

'Hey, son! May I ask you a question? Why did you take the quarters instead of the dollar bill?' The boy licked his cone and replied, 'Because the day I take the dollar, the game is over!'

How an actual journalist would have written this article:

"As of Sunday morning, Redwood Restaurant and Bar on Bethesda Lane is still closed following a pipe break last Wednesday. They promise to reopen "early next week", according a note posted on their Facebook page on Friday. A notice on the door promised "hot soup on us when we re-open".

"Battling to reopen" just sounds silly. It sure doesn't look like that from the pictures Dyer posted.

Redwood was going to shutdown for good. I don't think they will reopen and probably use this issue as a reason for the shutdown and make a nice insurance claim.
