Fancy Cakes by Leslie closes in Bethesda

Downtown Bethesda welcomed a new bakery over the weekend, but said goodbye to another. Fancy Cakes by Leslie has closed at 4939 Elm Street, in the Shoppes of Bethesda shopping center. The bakery's space has been totally cleared out. Fancy Cakes had a long and noteworthy run in downtown Bethesda. Celebrity clients over the years included Caroline Kennedy and Eva Longoria.

Gets to a point where even upper class weigh the worth of a cake vs a tank of gas.

The place always seemed empty whenever I walked by it. Oh well. We'll see what's next.

They were not customer-friendly. Seemed really averse to just walking in and ordering a cake. Why have a storefront-style business then?

The "teriyaki" ice cream place on the same block was doing a 50% off Halloween sale today, adn they have 2 lockboxes on the door. I'm guessing they don't have much time left.

It was bought by new owners maybe 1 1/2 years ago & went downhill in both service & quality in my opinion.

Very sorry to hear. I was just going to place an order. The store's website does not mention the closing, so perhaps the business will continue as an online-only vendor?

Cakes by Leslie was bought by new owners or Teriyaki Ice cream?

@6:44 Is that a statement you're making or a question?

Good riddance honestly. Last time I went the cupcakes tasted like they had dumped soap in them. They may look pretty but the taste was awful.
