Gold Leaf Bakery holding liquidating auction next month

Gold Leaf Bakery at 4918 St. Elmo Avenue is holding a "complete liquidation" auction on September 11, according to an online auction listing. The bakery is unnamed, but the photographs and description match Gold Leaf, which the announcement states is "shutting the doors" next month.

Available for bidding will be everything from a 140 quart Hobart mixer to the bakery cases to the walk-in refrigerator and Bakers' Pride baking ovens. Gold Leaf Bakery opened in May 2016 in the new Bainbridge Bethesda apartment tower.

"Kaldi's is closing"

If this is true, that's really sad. Gold Leaf Bakery has FANTASTIC pastries, and the owner is so nice! Definitely stopping by this week to get one last treat before they close.

The difference between BB and Dyer is that BB updates their stories promptly as soon as new information is available, whereas Dyer doubles down on his fractal wrongness.

Should Dyer be flattered or creeped out that he is so firmly in the troll's head?

In wake of the Capitol newspaper shooting, I'd be concerned.

7:10am by update, you mean rewriting it and trying to cover up the false reports?

Anonymous said...

7:12 still has reading comprehension issues. There were no “false reports.”

Sears filed a "WARN" notice. Then they withdrew it. BB reported both of these accurately.

"It's Hans Riemer who can't get me out of his head, whether it was his brief attempt to ape my hairstyle, or a series of attempts to launch rival websites to mine (starting with BethesdaNow in 2012, which I annihilated in the ratings until it went out of business)."

I'd be more concerned that the troll is a permanent fixture in Dyer's head.

In the wake of Jacksonville and game playing.

7:16am the original report was removed, but was emphatic that Sears was closing early 2018. A new story went up to blame Sears. How many journalism rules were broken with that one report?
The interns are learning on the job. Legacy print media is fading fast

7:18 am the Capitol newspaper shooting happened in our backyard. Not a laughing matter. Dyer's troll has the same unhealthy obsession with a reporter.

7:24 — That’s a lie. I read the initial story, too, and it didn’t say that. Don’t blame B.B. for your reading comprehension issues.

#Dyer'sLittleHelper has an unhealthy obsession with proclaiming Dyer a "reporter" or "journalist". He insults the memory of the actual journalists who were killed at The Capital Gazette (and he can't even write the correct name of the paper). I'd be more worried about Dyer's dangerous obsession with BB, which he claims was started by Hans Riemer. BethesdaNow has been gone three years and he can't even get that out of his head.

7:55am It is you who is obsessed with this inside baseball stuff about local bloggers. No one cares.
I'm pointing out that the local legacy print folks screw up regularly. Dyer doesn't waste bandwidth to troll their blog.

No, the original report was updated. Sears filed the WARN notice, then retracted it. Both of these are correct.

"How many journalism rules were broken with that one report?"

Zero. Unless you can actually name one?

"Legacy print media is fading fast"

How is BB "legacy print media" given that it was established in 2015 and does not have a print edition?

The New Yorker is Also a print/digital magazine. They do both...
@8:45 Are you complaining about them too?

Back on topic -- I'm not surprised. They used illegal street sign advertising, not only on their street but on random residential roads like Huntington Parkway. It was a sign of desperation.

Bakeries have it tough since people aren't as much into carbs.

Anyone seen how the gluten-free Red Bandana Bakery is doing lately? I was surprised to see the owner with a table set up at Normans' farm stand outside Little Falls Library a couple weeks ago. Like.. why bother if your storefront is doing so well?... or perhaps it's not.

Suze said...

@6:29 - From what I've seen, Red Bandana is doing just fine. They still have booths/tables because its an additional source of income and marketing for them. They always did well at Bethesda Central Farm Market, why stop that source of revenue just because they also have a storefront?

Regarding Gold Leaf Bakery - I tried to go by earlier this week and they are already closed. Lights off, no pastries in the case. Too bad, their pastries were delicious.

Those Hobart floor mixers are crazy...some are taller than me! Considered buying a used 60-qt pizza mixer because it looked so cool, but thankfully the client sold it to another cafe. The Mr says #dodge#bullet.
