Soft opening at The Halal Guys in Bethesda

In another indication that the grand opening of The Halal Guys is imminent, a soft opening event was being held at the restaurant last night. While the owners are still being coy about the opening date, my advice would be to call at lunchtime [(301) 347-7992] each day starting today to check, or walk by if you are in the area anyway. This is the first Halal Guys in Bethesda, and is located at 4915 Elm Street, across from Bethesda Row.

And by "being coy," Bobby means "not hanging up a sign with the date," not that they won't answer his question. Because he hasn't actually asked. Human contact, gah!

Human contact, like Sears, right?

We ate their yesterday. Great food. Loved the beef yeros platter with rice, olives and white sauce, the hummus with lots of pita, and baklava. Not a fan of the chicken yeros. Go easy on the hot sauce or it will ruin your day. Nice and clean interior design with a cool black and white photo wall mural of the original food truck and enormous line in NY. They said they are planning a grand opening on Saturday with some free food and swag. Be sure to stop by. A great addition to Bethesda’s fast casual options.

The french fries are enormous, plan to share.

"[(301) 347-7992]"

Why both square brackets and parentheses? Dialing the area code has been mandatory for a quarter century now.

7:08 AM inaccurate reporting but, hey, it was an intern. They're learning.

Meanwhile, in Dyer we trust.

@ 7:19 AM - I wonder if Robbie will make a YouTube video of himself asking for a bacon cheeseburger and a beer.

7:31 AM according to Sears, it was inaccurate reporting.

Dyer broke the story on the actual date they're closing.

Let's cut the intern a break though.

"according to Sears, it was inaccurate reporting."

Your report is inaccurate.

The food here is horrible. Garbage might be better. I give side eye to anyone who thinks this rates above a four on a ten point scale.

How thirsty is the rest of the world to be like NYC when a street cart can be launched into a full blown franchise?

9:36 AM, The proteins were mediocre in seasoning, but what I had was fresh. I am leery of anything prepackaged referred to as "white sauce," but it is enjoyable enough to sub for tzatziki, though it is not. Yes, if I examine it, most of it is mediocre (the fries are great). The thing is. It may be the McDonalds of MidEasern cuisine. But no one is being side-eyed for enjoying the occasional McDonalds. I'd rather have mediocre falafel than a Quarter Pounder.
