Public meeting scheduled for La Madeleine redevelopment in Bethesda

The preliminary and site plans for redevelopment of the La Madeleine site at 7607 Old Georgetown Road are likely to be submitted to Montgomery County next month. They propose replacing the restaurant with 200 residential units and up to 3000 SF of retail. A public meeting on the plans will be held on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 7:00 PM, at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center, located at 4805 Edgemoor Lane. The meeting will be in Conference Room D.

Is there any word on whether La Madeleine is trying to relocate to somewhere else in Bethesda?
I would miss this nice, quiet, family-friendly place that never tries to be trendy but just keeps making great food day in and day out.

5:15 I think La Madeleine is winding down their local operations. The North Bethesda and Silver Spring locations are already closed.

Robert, as a journalist, do you plan on joining hundreds of newspapers nationwide in defending freedom of the press and deploring President Trump’s identification of the media as an enemy of the American people?

This is a nice place, but really looking forward to another bank downtown.

La Madeleine was a quiet place because few people came to eat there even on a Sat night, usually a big night for a restaurant. La M served traditional French cuisine, high in sat fat, salt and sugar. I remember the bread was so salty, it was painful to eat. No Nouvelle Cuisine here and quite out of touch w modern dietary trends. Some of my friends liked it as a quiet place to eat & drink wine, so I was there a lot and had to sneak in some good food. Since it was cafeteria style, so one noticed. In retrospect, I think the cafeteria style was the best thing about La M and I wish other restaurants in Bethesda adopted this simple, convenient way.
