There's no indication the failure is the fault of Federal Realty; I was at Pike & Rose Saturday night, and the development was the most crowded I have ever seen it so far. To me, the "Factory Store" brand seemed a mismatch for an upscale development, but foot traffic has grown tremendously on Grand Park Avenue over the time the store has been open.

That store was very underwhelming. I was excited when they moved disappointed when I went there. Wish it wasn’t a factory store and more of a flagship style retail experience.

That was the worst retailer in all of Pike. That store was awful and had nothing you wanted no wonder it's gone.
The factory store was the wrong fit. A flagship, on the other hand, would have done very well. Pike and Rose is crowded and lively. It has a much better feel than downtown Bethesda does right now.
I went in there a couple of times. Didn't buy anything. Too expensive.
I wouldn't call Pike & Rose dead at all. I was there yesterday afternoon and it was bustling. REI is always busy, LL Bean seems to be doing well, and everyone is excited for Uniqlo. Not to mention the restaurants - I was at Baked Bear, which had a steady crowd, and Jinya filled up as soon as 5 o'clock hit.
This is all that is needed for a news article:
"The Nike Factory Store will close this Friday, August 24, 2018, 2 years and 8 days after it opened. City Sports had previously been at that location until it closed in October 2015, as a result of that chain's bankruptcy."
I go to Pike and Rose fairly often -- a couple times a month -- and I drive by it a few times a week, and I never even noticed the Nike store. That might be a clue as to its demise...
i usually am not a proponent of Amazon Go stores---(those gourmet convenience stores that are going up out west) because they are prejudicial against people who don't have smartphones and an amazon account,but I think one would do well on that corner. That area needs something useful like that. I don't know anywhere in Pike & Rose where you can buy some half and half or a box of macaroni and can of tomato sauce.
It ain't gonna be a real neighborhood without real merchandise.
Where am I supposed to return all of my Nike bricks now???
Then create your own blog or newspaper and write it that way. The fact that so many of you follow this blog just to knitpick it and complain about it is mind-blowing. Read something else if you don’t like it.
